I perfectly understand how hurt and upset Hermione must have been after seeing Ron and Lavender together. I think what she did may have been a little too drastic but we mustn't forget that she's been in love with Ron for a long time and to her it feels as though he betrayed her trust, her friendship and the romantic feelings she has for him.

So I think her reaction is quite understandable. Love drives us all crazy sometimes. ;)
"After all this time, Severus?"
"Always", said Snape.

But they're a perfect couple, it can't be improved. The fact they finally kiss just in one of the last chapters of the last book makes it even better ("the most long-waited kiss of all times", according to Emma Watson). It's the true love story of the saga, which develops in parallel to the struggle of Harry against Voldemort.

anybody else think that sending those canaries or watever on ron was a little bit un-hermioneish and sort of creepy. not to mention...jkr even desrcibed her lit.tle giggle at the gryffindor table very unhermioneish

Hermione is growing up. She is totally in love with Ron so naturally she gets mad when she sees him with Lavender..

Just because she is mad and jealous does not give her the right to be violent. She is emotionally immature as hell, and I thought it very strange to glorify this type of violence. Hermione turned out to be probably the most disappointing character in the entire series as her development actually went backward rather than forward.

I don't think JK 'glorified' this scene at all. I love her because she is not afraid to show the flaws in her characters. Hermione isn't perfect and neither is Ron, nor are any of her readers.

Sometimes love hurts and it sucks. And sometimes really passionate people overreact. That's life.

Personally, I love Hermione's passion. Being a fairly indifferent person myself i love it when Hermione kicks ass.

Remember, she also punched Draco...i dont hear people complaining about that.

i don't know why people say Hermione was being violent. She just made small canaries attack Ron. She didn't use the cruciatus curse, for god's sake

She's in love with Ron, of course she's going to get angry and irrational when she sees him with another girl. If I saw my boyfriend with someone else I'd go off.

Also, attacking someone with birds out of thin air rather than standard pain-inducing magic is a fun and unique move.

Re: PSYCHO HERMIONE

Ah the bashing of teenagers.

Hermione with the birds, Harry and Ginny with their temper, Ron because he believes he's useless, Fred and George who could go a bit far with one of Umbridge's followers, making snake noises when a boy was sorted into Slytherin in the fourth book and James Potter because he's not the flawless superman of books 1-4.
