Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Rose Granger-Weasley, Karl Jenkins, Polly Chapman, and Yann Fredericks. That's six in an entire school year? Harry's year had five boys in Gryffindor alone!

Re: Why were they so few pupils in Albus' year?

It is extremely likely that there were more pupils, which were left out of TCC as they wouldn't add to the plot and as it's a somewhat minamilist production. However, demographically speaking- theory has it that there were only 40 children in Harry's year as people were reluctant to bring children into the world during the dark times of the First Wizarding War (after all, JK says there are 1000 pupils at Hogwarts!) This would result in a population bottleneck continuing into the Third Generation, especially when it's considered how many of the Second Generation died in the Battle of Hogwarts. Conclusion: The play does not show all pupils from Albus' year, but it is likely that his year was comparatively small.

A very unlogical thinking.
