Right to Bear Arms?

I'm just really curious what everybody's opinion is about this? I personally believe that as an American we should have the right to protect ourselves but that's just me.

Re: Right to Bear Arms?

It's probably you are an American. Nearly all of the world has some constrictions about having a firearm and we are doing just fine.

Re: Right to Bear Arms?

I think any firearms beyond what is used for hunting or Olympic/Bisley type don't belong outside of the military and specialised police units. But as I have an American citizenship (and British) I recognise the right for most Americans to bear arms. I think these arms should not be automatic, contain certain types or amount of ammunition and should all be registered just as strictly as cars/boats/selling marijuana.

Second Amendment defence is absolutely nonsense. During the time Second Amendment was written, there were no automatic weapons, bombs etc. and most importantly it wasn't 21st century.

Oh really? Well what if saved your life? What if an illegal immigrant tried to shoot and kill you? Would you still refer to it as nonsense.

Why an illegal immigrant?

The USA have more shootings by their own citizens than any other country, not to mention school shootings (not counting organized crime). Hence the problem would lay with the fact that there are so many people who are armed. Shootings, and deaths caused by guns, increase in tact with the number guns around.

This is not the classical american conservative Republicans versus the liberal Democrats, but rather the rest of the world scratching their heads wondering why some Americans can't see that the number of shootings increase with more guns and that arming every one is a very bad idea.
I support canon because I have actually read the books and seen what they feel and whom they love.

Seriously? An illegal immigrant? So it's okay if a legal citizen tried to shoot and kill you? :fire: Which by the way is much, MUCH, more likely. And what are you going to do with a gun if someone does try to shoot and kill you anyway? Are you heavily trained? Most police officers can't hit a shooting suspect. Or maybe, gee, imagine if because guns weren't easier to get than candy there was no gun for someone to aim at you?

I do not think that all guns should be banned. But I do not hear as often about mass shooting in most other Western nations. Even as someone who is firmly on the right side of politics, I still think there should be a lot more regulation.

The founding fathers weren't so stupid as to think there would never ever be any advance in weapons. And bombs had been around for centuries.

Well, how about if the criminals obey the laws, like not bringing a gun into a gun-free zone?
