Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

I never read Twilight because it's crap.. Was enough that they ruined vampires, no need to ruin that little love I have for books too.. Besides I don't like fantasy books, I only enjoy fantasy movies.. Potter and Lord of the Rings was actually the only fantasy book I like.. I'm more into crime and history books..

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

I don't get why people are comparing the two. I mean, they're totally different! For example, Twilight focuses mostly on the love story between Bella and Edward, while in Harry Potter the love stories aren't as important. I mean ?? I just don't get it these books are so different I just ??

To answer your question, Harry Potter. Twilight is okay but kinda boring and it's not a book I'd read again, while I already reread Harry Potter maaany times.

I like Harry Potter and Twilight

I like Harry Potter and Twilight its not illegal to like both.
Both are a different genre.
Twilight is just misunderstood.
Just because the vampires are so different to all the other vampire stories before it.

Don't start saying all that grammar and spelling the author needs to take writing classes. Its an alright book. I remember reading a booklet at first of the first book and thought an alright book, i'll have to read the whole story.

It's great that you like it. Many people do.

Still, I don't see the point of this topic.

Harry Potter is much a better story. I use to be a big fan of Twilight but, now I'm not. I still love Harry Potter though.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

Oh god who dragged the Twilight thread back up?!

I'll be honest, I used to love Twilight when I first read it when I was...15. It's a book aimed at teenagers. I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of if you're a teenager and you like it. There's not necessarily anything to be ashamed of if you're an adult and you like it. I just know I'm prouder to be a Harry Potter fan than I ever was proud of being a Twilight fan. People can like whatever they want to like, it's their individual opinion.

Harry Potter & Twilight

Isn't it possible that fans of Harry Potter can like both series.
Yes Edward is so different to Dracula but so what I saw the series more of a romance novel.
Maybe male fans of Harry Potter hate it because its also about attractive vampires and werewolves. Its in girly magazines.

This is exactly the same as what happened years ago with Narnia fans and Lord of The Rings fans bashed Harry Potter.
Author of The Worst Witch tried to sue, i'm guessing because its about a magical school.
But you can like all of them.

Re: Harry Potter & Twilight

Sure you can.

I love both Buffy and Being Human and their respective universes have very different rules about vampires and werewolves. To be honest, I've never read the Twilight books but there's no reason why people can't like both that series and HP.

Liking both is fine. You can even like Fifty Shades of Grey or some other book series. It doesn't matter.

Twilight hater clan please go and watch Vampires Rule ---- Suck. A Twilight parody. You might fancy the main character too.

Oh and you don't have to be a teenager to like Twilight.
Do you remember people used to say Harry Potter was just for little kids. (Primary/Elementary school age)
They made adult covers for Harry Potter books in Britain because some adults were sort of embarrassed to be seen reading them.
Some adults watch children's cartoons.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

The problem is not that Edward isn't Dracula, but today, lots of teens think that he is a normal vampire. It totally destroys the myth of vampires, lol.
But I have no hate for Twilight - anyway, I haven't read these books.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

Can not stand Twilight and should not even be compared to Harry Potter. Never heard of it until I went to boot camp, and on off-base liberty a bunch of us went to go see a "vampire" movie and it was Twilight. We were amused thinking it was some sort of spoof, but after 7 weeks of hard work any movie was better than squats. I decided to read the books (because I wanted to make sure I had read the source material before criticizing it) and was horrified. Mary Sue main character, the abuse of Bella by Edward (controlling her friendships, beating her on their wedding night but it was "ok" because it was an "accident, pedophilia (Jacob and whatever the daughter with the crazy name is), etc). If I ever have a daughter, she is not reading those books until she is much older and knows that that is NOT what healthy relationships look like - that this is a h=guide to 100% UNHEALTHY relationships.

Actually, people calling The Hunger Games the next Twilight is what kept me from reading that series for so long. I loathe comparisons between YA lit because they are not even close.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

Having extensively read both series...Twilight sucks...and not even from a story line perspective...it just mechanically sucks.

I get that people like Twilight, and I guess your entitled to. Do that...but people also like Crystal Meth sooo...

But in all seriousness...

The problem with Twilight isn't the fact that storyline is recycled and boring.(Romeo and Juliet)...it's the fact that the characters themselves are wooden and one dimensional and are almost caricatures of the their respective species. Bella, so painfully human with absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities. People give Kristen Stewart a lot of shit for being way to wooden in the movies...but that's how Bella Swann was written. She had little joy in her life...she didn't even like music ffs. She was rarely excited, or happy, or cheerful, or angry, or mad, or any.other emotion other than sad or perfectly...eh. if you asked her how she was doing...the only adjective she would have to describe herself with is Fine.

So it should really come as no surprise that she made a better blood sucking parasite then she did a human being.

I don't think Twilight was the greatest book ever written, I don't think its super perfect. Younger fans might think that not me ok.
Harry Potter will always be my favourite book.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

I would much prefer reading Harry Potter over Twilight since I've tried reading the series once, but I couldn't get through the second book. The writing was boring, nothing was memorial, and not to mention, also supported the idea of young women staying in abusive relationships. Harry Potter has everything that Twilight does not, such as interesting, well-developed characters and wonderful mysteries and storylines.

Re: Harry Potter vs Twilight (HP>TWILIGHT)

I'm surprised this "vs" thread even exists on here; obviously this Harry Potter fan forum is going to vote Harry Potter, haha. However, I do agree that Harry Potter and Twilight are really different series from each other. It's weird that it ever became a popular internet debate between the two series in the first place (this forum is definitely not the first place I've seen "Harry Potter vs Twilight" stuff).

Seriously guys?

I like Twilight (not the series, only the first book and movie) but it is not comparable to Harry Potter
