Re: Favourite Holiday Foods

Well, for Thanksgiving, I'm not a very big turkey person, but my mother makes mashed potatoes that are to die for.
For Christmas Eve, we have very light dinners with no meat. We typically just have a vegetarian antipasto.
And on Christmas, we have really big lunches and dinners. My mom likes to make Rigueur, but I don't want to eat veal, so my favorite is the Cannelloni, which is similar to lasagna.
And than on the 26th, we have what is called giorno di Santo Stefano, and we basically just eat even more food than on Christmas. My favorite dish we make is Ricotta and Spinach filled ravioli with tomatoe sauce.
This was longer than I though it was going to be  I'm so excited for the holidays.

Oooh, goodie! I had pumpkin spice bread for a month when I visited the US. Best thing ever. Shame we don't have it here.

Re: Favourite Holiday Foods

Oh, my... everythin with cinnamon which is the ultimate Christams flavour, after all! Also, I really like Marzipan-Stollen... at least if it's good. And I loved those old candy canes... those which were really HARD and simply candy in the cane colour and shape... nowadays it's always such peppermint or cherry flavoured semi-chewy stuff... I wan't pure hardened sugar with no other flavour or texture the way candy is supposed to be! Or liquorice flavoured... Also, I love cotton candy... and tea and hot chocolate.
