Favourite Accents

What's your favourite accent and what one do you have?

I'll get the ball rolling, my favourite accent is when German girls speak English, and I have a mix of English/Scottish/Irish, it's just loads of twangs.

Re: Favourite Accents

I'm a sucker for a girl with a scottish accent. I also realy like the welsh accent.

I am an american. I'm from Arizona(which is as accentless as it gets), but people from Arizona all my life have asked me if I'm from New York. I guess I have a New England accent. I don't here it though

Ah cool. I'm in LA for a few months next summer. Also a New England accent coming from Arizona is odd haha, maybe you just watch too much Family Guy?

Re: Favourite Accents

British accent. And before someone goes all "there's different accents in the UK", I don't know how to be more specific. Also Australian accent.

I'm Finnish, but I've been told I don't really sound like it, so who knows. >:

Does ø count as an accent? At least the slash part? Because it's pretty sweet. Anyone know how it's pronounced?

I don't think it does. It's a separate letter in the Danish and Norwegian alphabet, like æ or å. And as for the pronunciation,it's difficult because you don't have the same sound in English, but I think the "u" in "lulled" for example comes closest.

But in all seriousness, in English my favorite accents are Scottish, Australian and Indian. In Dutch they are Zeeuws and Amsterdam and in French it's Languedocien and Breton.

Unpopular opinion: I love the southern US accent. And South-Welsh English, and Northern Ireland English. And in Dutch, I like the Frisian accent, and both Amsterdam and Rotterdam slang.

Re: Favourite Accents

I love a british accent - all of them. I hate danish people trying to talk with a british accent though
I'm danish, so I speak with a danish accent. More specifically I'm from Copenhagen, so I speak that particular accent. Hard to explain the differences inside Denmark if you don't know danish language :)

Don't ever say it like that when you're in Friesland though or you'll be lynched. They consider Frisian a different language all together.

I'll say it like that whenever I like. People in Friesland make an effort to speak Dutch when people from other parts of the Netherlands are around, and they still have a bit of an accent. That's the accent I love. Speaking Frisian is different altogether - whether you call it a dialect or a language, the term accent simply does not suffice.

I agree that it is a language by the way, but that's another debate.
