Re: Favourite Accents

I think I like all kinds of accents, all but Finnish ones.

Have you heard this joke before:

An Australian man decides to visit New York City one day. After the long flight, he decides that he wants to wander around and see the sites. As he is crossing a busy street however, traffic picks up all around him, and he is stuck in the middle of the road. Several police officers notice his dilemma and halt traffic to help him out. One of the officers walks up to him angrily and asks "What's the matter?! Did you come here to die?"
The Australian man simply replies "Nah mate, I came here yesterday!"

I will say while I do love British accents my absolute favorite accent of all time are Swedish accents. They just make me melt.

I love British accents. I've grown up around Italian accents so I guess I need to like those too.
French is also one of my favorites.

Re: Favourite Accents

I actually hate the majority of English accents, which sucks, because my accent is basically a hybrid of all English accents.... minus Dorset, thank god.

My favourite accents are definitely all Australian. Not the bogans though. I have a love/hate relationship with the Kiwi accent, just purely because some of the shit they say sounds absolutely retarded (ie "Fush n Chups").

I also love the Irish and Scottish accents when it comes to swearing. Get an Englishman, Irishman and a Scotsman in a room together, and the conversation that follows will be beautiful.

A Scotsman swearing is a thing of beauty. One of the finer things in life.

I love the cockney accent because of the rhyming slang. Wish I was fluent in it.

Don't forget to throw in an Afrikaaner... or a Cape Coloured... they swear like all hell.

Re: Favourite Accents

Why does swearing and spitting go so well, lol? :) And sometimes, they would do a diatribe, filled with cuss words, barf, not clean it up, and continue talking as if they didn't just do that, lol. :)

Re: Favourite Accents

Thugs with heavy foreign accents just seem cartoonish to me, lol. :) I mean, I think that that is why radical Islamic suicide bombers just aren't able to deliver that fear, that kind of import, that they desperately want; they can't instill that kind of fear in people; Yes, they are scary but their accents undermine it, a lot, lol. :)
