Depends on what you mean by magic. Some things could be considered magic, like telepathy.

I have to write answering a question similar to that for my Mythology class, but I have no idea. :?

One day I'm sure we'll explain things that appear to be *magic* in terms of science.

The weirdest science out there is Quantum Physics and the Chaos Theory.

At the moment there is a strong probability that there are at least 10 parallel universes in existence.

Check out wikipedia for M Theory Von Neumann. M stands for membrane or magic theory. The membrane that fits between alternative universes.

If you're wondering who Von neumann was, he's the computer scientist, physics Nobel Prize Winner who invented the way computer CPU's process data - over 50 years ago, and it's still not been better, he was a genius at maths.

Told you Computer Science, and Physics are weird, and no doubt will explain Magic in the longer term, even if it blows your mind along the way!

Studying Computer Science can be like being a space cadet! :D

It's so strange. But cool!
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.

true that, studying computer science amaze you sometimes, the complexity of microchips and processors is awesome. but be as it may not everything can be explained in terms of science. Take religion (but we are NOT discussing that here :P it'll never end).
Same is the case with magic, real magic does exist and it is more than a still unexplained science. Chaos theory is not unexplained or undefined, it is a THEORY already and pretty much working in modern physics and mathematical models.
Magic is way beyond all this, and so very totally different from the one in HP. Even if we don't discuss magic in particular, there are hundreds of thousands of unexplained phenomenons, a lot of whom have existed through centuries on end without any plausible explanation. Science today have progressed beyond any single persons imagination and the answers to some of the most fundamental mysteries of the planet still remain unsolved. All answerable through science? I don't think so. Some things work on different levels of reality and rationality and science alone can never be the answer.

P.S: Von Neumann was not the founder of M-Theory (infact he had nothing to do with it at all). M-theory was proposed by Edward Witten at USC in 1995. M-theory actually unified the previous 5 superstring theories (M for Master). Edward Witten called it M-theory because he did not feel he had the right to name a theory which was still not fully defined but in his own words it was "Magic" "Mystery" or "Matrix".

Also it deals with "Membranes" (dimensions) and not magic itself.

You can't hide from the Grim Reaper. Especially when he's got a gun.

Wow that's VERY boring, You have no belief or openmindedness to anything. Not aliens, unexplained phenomena, anything at all?!

Sure you don't mean agnostic?

I'm sure. I believe in what I can see, not some invisible dude in the sky.

Re: Real Magic

I used to believe that real magic exists, back when I was still religious. That's because my religion acknowledges magic despite considers it as Devil's work. Now that I am no longer a religious person, I don't believe real magic anymore.

Re: Real Magic

I believe that Satanism exists, so yeah, I sort of believe there's a real magic.

The kind you read about in Fairy Tales though? Nope. No way.

I believed in magic when I was a children, like all the children I guess. But now, I have grown, I became a boring adult (or almost) and I no longer believe in nothing, except in taxes and money

Re: Real Magic

Isn't magic defined as simply as a phenomena that we don't understand, lol?

So to me, how a microphone works is magic, lol. :)
