Great hall scene before the battle

This was on TV the other day and when i reached this scene i turned it off.Everything is wrong with it.Harry jumping out of nowhere to confront Snape and the Order suddenly appears behind him. Then he gives some stupid lame speech. The screaming girls just annoyed me to no end,i mean wtf is that all about?McGonagall sending the Slytherians to the dungeons is out of character, she doesn't really do it.

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

I agree. I think the line in the book with McGonagall telling Slytherin house to exit behind Pansy Parkinson was enough from McGonagall. Anything else is out of character. I do like Harry confronting Snape though.

I'd rather the way Snape departed in the movie, but the rest of that scene was ridiculous.

It was the same departure as in the book but in a different place. I wanted to see Snape and McGonagall battle like in the book though.

Yes. That's what I meant, anyways.

Agreed, the scene is bad. I mean, i actually dont mind Harry confronting Snape, and i dont know why, but it seems okay to me. The girls screaming annoys me no end though

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

Um, to everyone on this thread, I thought it was pretty obvious that the girls were screaming because Voldemort was getting inside of their heads and totally messing with them. If you all noticed that as they were screaming, they were trying to cover their ears with their hands and they looked like they were in pain. That is actually really disturbing to know that a powerful psychopath can get in your head and there is literally nothing you can do about it. And Harry's speech was actually quite brilliant. It really captured his anger and hatred towards Snape and Voldemort and every bad thing that has happened to him throughout his life. You can see that Harry had had enough and he was finally ready for war and to end it all.

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

I'm not a fan of the films. Some are shockingly worse than others. DH2 was ok until this part. Did not like this scene. The books way, everyday!

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

I didn't actually mind this scene so much. I didn't like the Battle of Hogwarts in the film at all really (the book was so much better) but I thought this scene was alright.

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

The 2 DH movies are an improvement to the others, but in general, the films are shocking :/ but then, I would say that, as I'm 100% for the books.

Re: Great hall scene before the battle

I would much rather if the movies stuck by the book, but I think that scene could have been worse. I didn't like the girls screaming, because I thought it was just plain annoying.
I WISH MCGONAGALL AND SNAPE HAD A PROPER DUEL. Like how it was in the books. I was really excited for that part...

It seems that I'm the only one who loves the entire film, including this scene.
