Apparently, this was originally going to be split in two?

According to David Heyman and Steve Kloves, GOF was originally planned as being split in half. Of course they didn't, but instead realized it was more useful to do that with DH. They said that at first they wanted to split it as the book is full of so much info. that it would be a tall order to try to fit it in one film.

Well, what if the film was going to be split in two? What does anyone else think would have been a good place to end part 1?

I wish they would have. So much was lost in that one. I wonder why they didn't...it's not like the franchise was hurting for money. Part 1 could have ended with the first task. That would have given viewers plenty to think about, as well as a good dose of action.

Thanks for all of it, Jo.

That would have made more sense, and the movie would have turned out much better. Felt rushed at times, and a lot was missed. :(

I'm thinking a good cut off point would have been when Cedric and Harry grab the cup in the maze.

Dammit, there was a thread here about this...
Where is zenny when you need her? I think the general consensus was that the split should be after the first task? Or was it after the Yule Ball? Ugh I forget, but zenny would remember. :(

That would not have worked at all. That's WAY too far to the end of the book/film.

I can't believe they didn't split it in two! I've been saying for so long that they should've done that! This basically proves what I often end up saying about the makers of GoF just not caring about the book if they had this chance and ignored it.

^ This. I think GoF was the worst of the movies, but the book was great. Two movies would have allowed more content and the story would have made a lot more sense.

I know that it isn't possible and would have costed a lot of money nut it would have been so cool if they had split it into three movies one for each task.
This forum is awesome.

They should have split the movie into two at Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was 870 pages long!

I think If they split it into 2 parts, Part 1 would've been good to end off just before the second task.
