No Peeves because of Angry Parents

I read a quote from Chris Columbus that he had to cut the film down because of parents complaining it was too long for kids.He originally had Peeves in the film and the scenes were done but then he had to cut it out.I bet Hermione's puzzle scene was going to be there too but was also cut.

While I would have liked to have seen these scenes in the movie, I agree that long movies are hard for kids. Children can't sit through a two and a half hour movie.

I sat through the movie, and I was young at the time, and I wouldn't have minded if it went for longer than that to include more in it.

It was originally meant to be half an hour longer or a bit more i think, that wouldn't of killed anyone surely.

I don't think an extra half hour is that much longer. I mean, look at LOTR, those movies are long and loads of people watch those.

Re: No Peeves because of Angry Parents

Could we imagine a director's cut reedition of the movies , with a lot of delated scene for the 10 years of Harry Potter's saga soon ?
Would not it be a good idea ? I would buy the films once again !!!!

Re: No Peeves because of Angry Parents

That's true. There are so many deleted scenes that have not been shown that I do want to watch. :?

It will happen when it is the anniversary of the final movie or something - like 10 years since the last HP movie was released you can now view hours and hours of deleted footage, never before seen cast interviews and so on.

I dont think it would have been too long as the film is too engrossing..

Lord of Rings has extended edition, why cant they do this with Harry Potter :)

Re: No Peeves because of Angry Parents

I do understand the reason why, but sometimes I think it's sad because we miss some of the greater things that were in the books.
But on the other hand, when I was a kid and saw the movie, it was long enough for me. I would not have enough concentration to watch a two hours long movie.
Now I would, but back than... haha :)

Re: No Peeves because of Angry Parents

I've taken my young cousins to movies a lot, and right around the climax of almost every movie (generally an hour and a half long), so let's say about the 1:15 mark, is when everyone simultaneously is just about to wet their pants (I know you're a girl, but you're 3 years old, I have to take you into the boy's room), is absolutely dying of thirst (Drink some of mine, I don't care if you only like Sprite), just can't sit next to someone anymore (Why are you even looking at him? I spent $10 on your ticket so you could look at the movie), wants to know if we are going to stop for food on the way home (Not at this rate) and needs to know why the person on the other end of the row still has popcorn and their's is gone (You still have popcorn, the bag is on the floor at your feet). I can understand parents advising on the length of a movie.
