during the ministry battle, harry disarmed lucius, right. then sirius said, "nice one, james..." and then they continue battling with lucius.. how can lucius battle without his wand? and here is the blooper...
lucius still had his wand... after harry had disarmed him. _________________

Awww, I hate stupid mistakes like that. I need to see the movie again, but I am waiting for Santa to deliver me my new dvd player, first. _________________

It's weird, I just watched it, and I feel like Lucius had TWO wands in his hands...I think Harry knocked one of them out of his hand, but he still had the other.
I could be wrong though!
[edit] I just rewatched it. Lucius was holding the sheath for his wand in his left hand, which flew when Harry disarmed him...his real wand stayed in his right hand. |

I knew it was his sheath for his wand when I saw the movie, but I wondered why would Harry disarm Lucius of his wand sheath? _________________ Amor Vincit Omnia!

Wouldn't the blooper be Sirius calling Harry, James? _________________

^No, it was an example that Sirius was a bit dillusional and was looking at Harry, as if he were his best friend James. _________________ Amor Vincit Omnia!

Actually, Harry casts Expelliarmus on Lucius, and much of it rebounds and disarms Harry -- his own wand goes flying. Sirius finishes the fight alone. (At some point, Harry retrieves his wand, but I don't think we ever see it.)
Having since read the book, I thought this was the director's own idea of how spellcasting works (since the entire battle scene diverges from the book). Something like: if student S targets master M, but M is stronger than S, then part or all of the spell reflects back to S. Makes a bit of sense -- otherwise, the other five students should have been gunning down distracted Death Eaters.
Note, also, how the only two spells verbalized in the entire battle are Harry's fumbled Expelliarmus, and Bellatrix's Avada Kedavra. Everybody else was advanced enough to non-verbalize. |
