ginny is always treated in the books as the young innocent and protected one yet she is only a year younger than the heros and therefore, conciddering what they have done at younger ages, should be given more respect.
I really hoped that in this book she'd be able to prove herself. Especially when they tell her to stay in the RoR. She breaks out when Harry tells her she needs to leave for a bit. SHe runs off and doesn't come back. And then... nothing. I mean, she survives. But there are no bat-bogey hexes. Nothing to really prove that despite her age she can hold her own because of her maturity and confidence. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Well she was having a go at Bellatrix until big mama came along and spoiled the party. Molly killing Bella? That was the freak moment of the whole book. Totally whack. I was like, NO WAY. How can this house wife, even under righteous anger and love for her kid and fighting with emotion, kill Bella when Bella is far more skilled.
JKR pulled a Sirius, making Bella look at it as a joke. But I don't see that either. She wasn't the joking kind, she was the killing machine kind. Bad move on JKR's part there. Neville or Harry should have killed her.

Spoiler:
What's wrong with a mother killing someone to protect those she loves?
And I don't think Bellatrix thought it was a joke as much as she was just acting overconfident. She thought it was ridiculolus that a housewife was going to attempt to kill her. And obviously she wasn't alone because you thought it was ridiculolus yourself.

Spoiler:
That is exactly what I said, by joke, I meant, JKR made bella think it was ridiculous to the point where she got over confident like Sirius. But Bella was NOTHING like Sirius. She took her fights seriously. Nothing is wrong with Molly trying to kill Bella. I'd of done the same thing. The point is, I don't think she was capable of doing so. When was the last time she ever issued even a harmful curse? As a woman who spent all her time cooking and cleaning for the big happy weasley family, she was ill-equipped to be a fighter.
Molly COULDN'T EVEN GET RID OF A BOGGART!!! when it was showing all of her kids dead and Harry too...tell me that didn't make her emotional! It made her nearly insane, yet she couldn't do a thing about it. A little bogart!! Then she kills Bella...it was RIDICULOUS! lol...at least to me.

Spoiler:
Whoa, you are way out of line. Molly couldn't get rid of the boggart because she somehow had to turn the deaths of her family into something that is funny. You try to do that! It had nothing to do with her magic abilities.
I might flee at the sight of a spider, but if someone was attacking my children, you bet your ass I would Avada Kedavra that b*tch into oblivion.

I can understand why Ginny is over protected by her mother because she is the youngest and the only member of the family that can be controlled somewhat by her parents. Mrs. Weasly is just grasping at anything she can to try to keep her family safe.
I would have liked to see more Ginny in DH. At the end of HBP she is confident and strong. "She did not cry, she simply looked at him...."..He'll try to get to me through you." "What if I don't care?" said Ginny Fiercely." I assume that she continued this fierce devotion to fighting evil while at Hogwarts but we just don't get to hear anything about it. I thought that Mrs. Weasly taking over the fight from Ginny did make Ginny look weak - like she truly needed all the "protection" that her mother has been trying to give her. But as fans - we know that Ginny is strong enough on her own. _________________ Perfect Harmony
no matter how much of a "housewife" Molly was she definately LOVED HER CHILDREN MORE THAN ANYTHING! and if you go messing with someones child you are in for a WORLD OF HURT!.. killing Fred was like walking up to a baby bear.. you better expect the mama to come and nock you dead..
have you ever thought that maybe Sirius and Bellatrix had more in common than one would assume? perhaps they jsut laughed at the fact that they were comming to there end.. maybe they were just trying to let it out and that's how it came...
And Ginny had a moment of strength when she was trying to help the wounded on the battleground..:
"It's all right," Ginny was saying, "It's okay. We're going to get you inside."
"But i want to go home," Whispered the girl. "I don't want to fight anymore!"
"I know, Said Ginny, and her voice broke. "It's going to be all right."
....... That right there takes a certain kind of bravery that not many people know.. she proved herself wonderfully in my book

Yeah I agree. Mrs. Weasley wanted to protect the only daughter she has!! Plus the youngest... but Ginny should've had more of a chance to prove herself, she can't be protected forever. Maybe her getting a chance to do something big would've given me some love for her. _________________

yeah sure... she just wanted to act like a rebel. quit acting that way, ginny... youre not helping harry anyway. i mean, hermione really wants to help harry, and so does ron. its not for the sake of being a rebel. but in the case of ginny, she just wants to rebel a bit when she cant even pul it off like fred and george. _________________
she was trying to help.. it belonged to Harry remember.. she wanted to give it to him.. HELP OUT, neville was with her and so was Luna you know.. _________________
