The goblin did have his dark side - he gloated about wizard suffering, abandoned Harry and his friends, so that he could rejoin the army of invading goblins (during the break-in at Gringotts), but on the other hand he showed mercy and lied to Bellatrix Lestrange about the Gryffindor sword in order to spare Hermione. He also aided Harry, albeit reluctantly.
How would you compare him to Kreacher?
Did you have sympathy for the little goblin?

Oops..I apologize to the mods, could you please move this to "The Deathly Hallows" (Book) forum!

Warning: SPOILER!

He only saved hermione because he wanted the sword, he didn't do it for her, but for himself.

And Kreacher was 10X the good person he ever was (wait...did I say that...wow)

And I have no sympathy, I wish that the dragon had eaten him, but atleast they got the sword back(which probobly really pissed him off)

I have to agree, he wasn't altruistically inclined, though he had a lot of respect for Harry. Griphook was willing to trust a wizard.

It's supposed to be, yes

to: Philior Gordov - Griphook didn't trust the wizards, that's why he joined the side of the goblins trying to get them. He had no interest in trusting them he just wanted the sword, and played to his strengths to get it as quickly as possible.

He did have selfish motives, but I think he was more good than evil.

I agree, though he had to find a way to rejoin his fellow goblins (if they had learned about Griphook's betrayal, his life would have been in great danger).
There is certainly a human side to him, he could potentially become a more trustworthy ally to good wizards.
