I read in Hp lexicon that one of the working titles of COS was Half Blood Prince. Since the book revolved around voldie, im assuming that if the book were named, Half Blood Prince, it would be referring to him.

But as we progress to book 6, whose title is Half Blood Prince, we see that it refers to Snape.

Well, since Jk thought that the title HBP could refer to snape and voldie, and that both of them are halfbloods, and voldie is sort of like a prince too (being an heir of slyth), might there be any connection between the two? a connection obviously that is more than just master and death eater.

Hey, well thought!!! Surprised It's possible that this means really that Snape's title has no importance at all...that he and Voldievil don't have anything in common!!!It's my opinion Wink

if it really is unimportant, then why would jk name the book HBP? it might have been a better idea to name it Harry potter and the horcruxes or something. after all, its the story of voldie, the background story, that was central to the story, more than snape and his prince book. so maybe, hbp, to us, might seem like it is just a book about snape. turns out, it is a book about snape and voldie, who are both half blood princes! after all, the story of voldemort unfolds in that book.

Well I know she named the book Half-Blood Prince because some of the events seem to circulate around Snape, the assistance of Snape and getting-to-know Snape. We learned about Snape in this book.

Eileen Prince was Severus Snape's mother who married Some woman abuser with no magical powers whatsoever, named Snape.
So Snape called himself the Half-Blood Prince
It was all explained in the book

Also, with the way JK Rowling writes, she likes to keep us guessing and have a ginormous twist at the end. I know that as I was reading the book, I thought the Half Blood Prince was Voldemort (but some obvious pieces didn't fit).

Oh and we didn't find much about the Horcrux's until the middle-end of the book as opposed to having these on going sessions with Dumbledore and Snape, learning more and more about the reason why he is the way that he is. Harry read that book religously but when it came to finding about the Horcrux from Slughorn, he put it off.

Lastly, come on. Half Blood Prince is a kick ass title.

So no, it wouldnt be better to name it Harry and the Horcrux's.

But anyways, thats kind of interesting, but highly unlikely....but interesting? Maybe thats why Snape has an ornate attachment to Voldemort? Other than the death eater thing...especially when it burns everytime Voldemort is calling for a meeting. Or the fact that he can kill you in an instant

well but the horcruxes are very central to the entire septology, so i would have named it that... unless of course, half blood prince means more than it seems...

the book is really more about the story of voldie. of course, the character of snape unfolds, but the plot of the story is about voldie's story.

i was thinking that jk named it hbp because...

1. its a book about snape and voldie, the two half blood princes
2. it sounds nice...

* hmm... i like snape and tom riddle... i guess im really meant to be the halfbloodprincess.

I think titles should be dicieving so as to not give away the plot so Half Blood Prince was a good name.

yes the titles shouldnt give away the plot immediately, but after reading it, you should be able to determine the relationship between the plot and the title. we all know at the end of hbp that the prince is snape. what doesnt seem apparent is that hbp could also refer to voldie. after all, if the bulk of the book is his life story, the title could as well refer to him.

I think JK originaly had the whole Half-blood prince potions book thing in CoS to begin with, but then she realized that it fit better in the 6th book. She also said that something remained behind in CoS from it...that would be the vanishing cabinet. So that would be why she wanted to call CoS half-blood prince, but didn't.

I think that HBP for book 2 would be weird. I like Snape more as HBP instead of Voldie. Voldemort is tom riddles nickname, so why would he have another one.

no i dotn think voldie uses halfbloodprince as a nickname. but the title may also refer to him. you cant deny that he is literally a halfblood prince. he is both a halfblood and a prince.
