What do Hermione, Ginny, Fluer, and Tonks have in commin? They've all had a relationship with someone older than they are. Hermione dated Krum once, who was 2 or 3 years older than her. Every guy Ginny's dated has been 1 year older than her. Fluer is marrying Bill, who is about 6 years older than her. And Tonks has to be almost 10 years younger than Lupin.

Hmmmm.

It's been my experience that I've almost always dated, and have married, guys older than me. I mean, that's pretty common, isn't it? Girls tend to mature faster, and older guys tend to me more comfortable and less annoying to be around.

Then we do see a relationship (if you could call it that) between Ron and Laverder, who are the same age. But Lavender seems immature and that seems to fit more with the guys of her age, where Ginny and Hermione both seem mature and well-rounded to me (maybe less Ginny and more Hermione).

I don't think it's so much a pattern as a way of life, here and there.

Ah, but both my dad and older brother have married women older than them. So I guess it seems odd to me.

I agree. The majority of my boyfriends, including my current, have been older than I.
Three have been older by three years, a couple by 1, and some by a few months.
I have dated younger, but I've found them to be much less mature.
I think she's just trying to relate to something somewhat normal.

I agree, I had a holiday boyfriend who was 3 years older than me. (He was 18, I'm 15), but boys my age are really cute as well.

True, I often catch myself staring at other boys in my classes.
But, I'd never leave my current boyfriend. I love him to death, and compared to the other boyfriends I've had, he's without a doubt the best.

I have always dated guys who were older than me. It just works better. I have a lot of male friends and they are all just sooo immature at times. A relationship works when two people can have a mature conversation, be emotionally there for you and when you have things in common. Younger men/boys (most) just haven't reached that level let.

What about Mrs. Weasley + Mr. Weasley, Pansy + Draco and Hermione + Ron?

I don't think its anything that JK Rowling did intentional but prove me wrong.

It seems unintentional to me.

Girls do tend to marry guys older than them, but if this does mean something, what do you think it means?

I like older guys, they are more mature.
I hate boisterous guys, they piss the crap out of me.
and boisterous guys are usually the younger ones.

I've dated guys older than me and younger than me and from my experience they were immature no matter what age. Wink

Generally speaking, though, girls do tend to mature a bit faster than boys... but that is not always conisitant. I have known relationships to end because the guy wanted to move the relationship towards something much more serious than the girl was ready for. So although it's not always true that girls are more mature, mostly it is.
