| Is it me or Malfoy could have used a portkey to get the deatheaters into Hogwarts. Im guessing it would have been a much easier way then fixing the vanishing cabinets. |

Portkeys are closely watched by the ministry. Also to make his own would take a lot of power. I don't think Malfoy had the skills to do this yet.

yeah they haven't been taught how yet. i'm guessing they'll learn in charms 7th year (if they ever go back to school)

yeah, cuz its pretty advanced magic. more so than apparation, because you can transport more people than those that are able to touch you.

No way Hogwarts has protective spells against portkeys and apparating, so they cant have.

| I was going to post that when Dumbledore sent Harry back to Hogwarts with a portkey, that it must have been a special one that he was able to create that could bypass the security. But on second thought, in GOF, the cup as portkey was the only way Harry had of bringing himself and Diggory back and that had nothing to do with Dumbledore. |
