Spoiler:
Ginny might have been thought of going in Slytherin for the same reason! Since a part of Voldemort's soul - the diary - was with her when she stepped into Hogwarts!

Fact 4: Snape > James.
Fact 5: Grindelwald > Voldemort.
The piece of Voldemort's soul was inside of Harry's head. The diary wasn't in Ginny's head. Not until she was already at Hogwarts was Tom Riddle able to possess her. And it wasn't until the end he was able to babble about her soul and his soul and all that nonsense.
So when Ginny first cme to Hogwarts, she was untainted. She didn't even have the diary with her when she was sorted, her diary was moist likely stashed away with her belongings. _________________ ^made by Fiendfyre
Opinion respected! But as Hermione says in DH, Ginny was attached to the diary. Ron tries to say something and she says, not with touch, with her soul. So I doubt the distance fact would matter. Also, we can't really know when Ginny's taint started since we don't know how much time she spent in the summer writing in Tom's diary. She might have even gotten slightly controlled before School started!
All this is just "Theories and Speculation" of course, in fact, it's just a nice idea to see how much Harry and Ginny would fit with each other, since they'd get the same thing happen to 'em in the Sorting. I doubt many students can say they were nearly sorted in Slytherin because they "Had some guy's soul inside them". _________________ Fact 1: Moody rocks your socks. And mine too.

When they first leave to go to Hogwarts, Ginny almost forgets her diary. If she was that connected with it, she wouldn't have forgotten it in the first place.
Once she realized the power it had over her, she ditched it in the toilet. So obviously the power of it wasn't that strong.
The pull was obviously a gradual one, as we see her throughout the book decrease in health, as Percy gets her to drink the pepper-up potion... and she does try to go to Ron and Harry for help before Percy interrupts. But she never tries to go for them for help again.
By the end it isl strong enough that he didn't need to communicate with her through it to be able to make her paint on the wall and "kidnap" her. _________________ ^made by Fiendfyre
Bah! Fine, fine, I give up. But you still can't deny the thing about Harry. It could be a theory why he was thought to be put in Slytherin, no? _________________ Fact 1: Moody rocks your socks. And mine too.

I almost forgot about that part; where she almost forgot the diary. _________________ Yas and Simmy - Putting Luna on catwalks since 2008!
I don't think she would've been put in Slytherin either way. She's a Weasley and Weasleys just DON'T get put in Slytherin. Even Percy for that matter... _________________ Yas and Simmy - Putting Luna on catwalks since 2008!
I thought it was obvious that the piece of Voldemort inside Harry caused the hat to believe he belonged to Slytherin... Just like that Parseltongue thing.
Just as GinnyX said- the diary wasn't in Ginny's heart. _________________ Click, please
I don't know, I think Harry had a little Slytherin in him with or without the piece of Voldemort's soul. He did end up wanting power which is a Slytherin trait, he just didn't want it for Slytherin reasons. He wanted it to help people instead of kill. _________________ You chase your dreams not realizing the nightmare they lead to.
This could prove, though, that perhaps JK Rowling had the entire series of books all planned out ever since she began writing the first book. Because if she was referring to that soul that was inside of Harry Potter in the first book when he was getting sorted then obviously WE, as the readers, wouldn't have known that until the Half Blood Primce but JK Rowling did because she had planned it ALL out and that is pretty cool. I mean, imagine having all of that information crammed inside your head before you even write the first book, never mind the last one lol. _________________ "My Logic is Never without Reason..."
I think she had that idea in mind when she wrote the first book, like the thing with parseltongue in CoS.
Well, yeah, it's kinda cool, but I think it is normal for an author to now the rough story and ending. Friend of mine writes a series of books himself and he knows what will happen in every book, he just has to write it out and add maybe some things to the story. But he showed me a piece of paper with summaries for all four books.
Anyway, maybe he is just a little bit Slytherin, but the fact that he has the audacity to stand up against the hat and to tell it that he doesn't want to be in Slytherin is pretty Gryffindorish I think. _________________ Click, please
Well, since Harry wasn't at the Sorting, Ginny might've been a hard decision because she already started writing in the diary, but I dunno... _________________ http://www.hpxp.co.nr/ - Looking for more members!

I just have a little question, was this fanfic made after or before the release of DH? Because, if before, then the writer made a perfect guess That was the exact reason the sorting hat wanted to put him into Slytherin _________________ http://www.hpxp.co.nr/ - Looking for more members!
The fanfic describes Ginny's life throughout the entire book series, from SS to DH's epilogue. I have the link to it in my "Best Fanfics Ever" topic, at Flourish n' Blotts.
As for if she had the information in her head since she wrote the first book...
If you ask me, JK made a schedule of sorts in her writing software that would remind her of her entire plan while she was writing, and would make small changes here and then. (e.g, she said she was planning to kill Mr. Weasley in the end, but changed her mind) That's what I'd do. Keep the info written down and check it up whenever I need to. _________________ Fact 1: Moody rocks your socks. And mine too.

I think that's possible.

I disagree! She had to be emotionally bonded with the horcrux to be possessed and be influenced by Voldy.

who knows? everyone said that the blacks could never be in gryffindor until sirius got sorted there...
as for the question, i agree. harry WAS thought to be put into slytherin because he was the last horcrux when voldy put himself in him, but he got into gryffindor (thank goodness) because he asked the hat not to be sorted into slytherin. _________________
