Barrack Obama just secured well over the amount of delegates required to win the Democratic nomination. He is now the first black candidate to run for the presidency in a major party. Earlier today, Clinton began aiming for the Vice Presidency, although in her address to supporters tonight, she claimed she has not yet conceded.
Thoughts/opinions?
Personally, I'm glad it's finally over. The Democratic party needs time to heal some of the major wounds this race has caused.

I heard a similar rumour... I heard that he was going to ask her to be his vice president.
I don't think he's going to ask her, though.
I really hope the democratic party can pull back together after these primaries are over.

I watched a debate between them awhile ago and they both said they had thought about it, I think it would be a great idea so that way die hard Hilary supporters won't vote for McCain just because they dislike Obama.
Anyone who does this is a complete fucking idiot, they are so simliar. Time to get past the sixth grade and choose based on policies, not on who beat your bestfriend in a race.

I was scratching my head...hard...as I watched HRC's speech tonight because (to me) her message still focused on her campaign and her own ambitions for the nomination. I was hoping and expecting a speech that would finally unite all Democratic voters. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
I breathe a huge sigh of relief that the person I believe will make more positive change and inspire others to walk his talk of change has won the Democratic nomination. And I hope that Obama doesn't pick HRC as his running mate. In addition to all the ways she has alienated my confidence in her, she had claimed that John McCain would be a better president than Obama, in an attempt to win the Democratic nomination.

I'm glad it's over, too. I'm disappointed that Obama won it, but I knew he would for some time now. There was just this small glimmer of hope alive in me that Hillary would win, and I fed off of that.
I'm torn between whether I think Obama should choose her as his VP or not. I actually am kind of convinced that if he does, then McCain will win the election for sure. The swing voters are going to be terrified to have a duo that is so far left. He needs some one a bit more conservative to balance it out, or else this will be Kerry/Edwards all over again. I'm also certain that a lot of Clinton fans are going to vote for McCain if she isn't selected as the running mate. It actually seems like a lose-lose situation.

He didn't secure "well over" the amount. He barely got the nomination, and everyone knows it. When there's 4000 delegates at stake.. a difference of a couple hundred between two candidates is pretty darn close. I'm glad Hillary kept going. It was interesting to see, and since she hasn't conceded yet, it'll be interesting to see what she does tomorrow. But since she hasn't really gained any superdelegates lately, and has even lost a few to Obama, everyone's rallying around him. So I'm pretty sure she'll concede rather than taking it to the convention. If not, she'll look pretty bad.
As for Obama vs. McCain.. will be very interesting to see Young vs. Old. I dunno if we'd see much change with McCain. I think we'll see a lot of change like Obama says he will bring - however, I think he lacks experience and the change he brings might not necessarily be anything great. But I don't think he's really laid down any real things he'd be big on changing. All he says is "Washington needs change".... okay, well, what are you going to do and what are you going to change? Hopefully he'll make that a lot clearer and bring some specifics. And I think McCain needs to hop on the change bandwagon himself if he has any hopes of winning against Obama.

I was in the same boat as you.. I'm convinced that Obama will ask her to be his Vp. Only because he needs something to pull and unit the Democratic party and that would be the perfect thing.
I know for sure that if he does not ask her then I'm not voting for him. I'm still thinking on the matter of if she is his VP if I will vote for him or not.

Actually I think it would be easier to go with Clinton. Most to all of her supporters will vote for him and I know that between the two of them in the primaries they got more votes then McCain did.

True, but like I said - he's gotta win the Gore election all over again with her. Though it could be easier to win those states, if he loses just one of them he's done. It's a hard call at this point.

Yeah I agree with you on that last part. The Democratic party really needs to catch up with the Republicans because if we continue at this pace we'll have another Republican, which in my opinion, nobody wants.

I'll vote for him. I am a working class, white female who is a Clinton supporter. I don't however support Clinton because she's white, female, or a hard worker. I support her because she it the closest thing to a voice that touts my opinions. Actually, I was an Edwards supporter before he dropped out. He was so much better that Obama of Clinton. The thing is, we have to cast aside our disappointment of losing our favorite candidates allow ourselves to be open-minded about the people that they lose against. If you don't want to vote for Obama merely because he beat Hillary, then you are clearly choosing your vote for the wrong reasons.
The truth of the matter is that Hillary and Obama are not far from each other on the matters at hand. Whereas McCain is a far ry from either of them. Since Hillary is no longer in this race, Obama is the candidate who is closest to my voice on the issues at hand. I will support him, because I want something of my beliefs to be heard.
It's a very competetive world, and we are letting this ridiculous competetiveness get in the way of what is important. You need to inform youself on the opinions and plans that these candidates have in mind before you can decide who to vote for. If workig-class women refure to vote for Obama merely because he isn't Hillary Clinton rather than because they think that there is a current candidate that is better than him, then I am ashamed to be grouped with them. Those women will give me a bad name.

Finally someone understands what I have been trying to say, Fahrenheit 451 anyone? Society is disgusting, get over the fact your favorite lost and vote for whoever is the most similar in policies. And most white working females I know didn't want Hilary.

I said.. MOST white woman and working class.. I never said that all white woman and working class will only vote for her.
I have reasons for not liking Obama and not wanting to vote for him..(I'm not willing to voice those on here.. and no they have nothing to do with being racist I have family that is black. If I do get into it you all will just jump on me again and I DONT want that to happen.) You dont know me or what my reasons are.. so really noone has any rights to say that those reasons are petty or wrong and we all should just calm down and vote for obama.
