I know this seems too idealistic, but if I was Rowling, I wouldve ended it this way. Now that Harry has the three Deathly Hollows, he is the master of Death. WIth them, he can resurrect real life ppl from the dead for real unlike with the stone. Since 7 is the most powerful magic number, he can resurrect 7 ppl. I know this is a corny ending but who do you think he wouldve resurreceted?? I would have guessed his mom, dad, Lupin, Tonks, Sirius, Fred, and Snape.

The problem with that is... when the people come back from the dead, they aren't really alive in the way we know it. They would all be miserable. So for Harry to bring back the people he loved most would be selfish and cruel to those he most cares about.

mhm the stone doesn't quite work that way. I think him understanding he couldn't bring them back and that he had to go on with life was what made him Master of Death.

hinduplaya said that it wouldn't be that they were brought back he way the stone brings them back, but rather that they would really come back to life with bodies and souls whole again. He is sort of suggesting a completely different idea of what it would mean to be the master of death than the one that Jo propses in DH.

ooo I missed the unlike for part

but still, harry needs to learn to move on. I think thats a much better ending and message. and it would be horrible to only have to chose seven! he'd them have to face the people that wanted him to chose somebody else. and then his parents...wouldn't they come back about the same age as harry? that would be so strange and trying for them. I don't think it would be an entirely happy ending if that happened.

When reviving someone with the hollows you forgot one thing. The person you revive lives in pain.

That is with the resurrection stone. hinduplaya is suggesting a alternative ending in which all of the hollows are used to fully resurrect a person into what he/she was before death.

Interesting theory; this would be good fanfic material.

I reckon Harry wouldn't do it just because, if it was only seven people, who would he choose?

His mum, dad, Lupin, Sirius and Fred would probably be definates.
But would he choose Dumbledore because Dumbledore's old and would most probably die in ten or fifteen years of old age.

Then there's also Mad Eye Moody & Snape, and even though he got on with Moody most of the time, and he didn't get on with Snape at all through his seven years at Hogwarts, Snape was one of the main reasons he was still alive at the end of his seven years at Hogwarts.
There's also other people who died like Tonks & Dobby.

So even though he'd want his parents, Sirius, Lupin and Fred back, he'd be faced with some other difficult choices also, and it could affect other people around him badly if he made the wrong choices.

but after learning that snape truly loved his mom, i think harry would have resurrected him. heck, he even named one of his kids after him, saying he was one of the bravest men he knew. nah, harry wouldve chosen snape.

The thing with Dumbledore is that I doubt Harry would have picked him because it seemed like he was ready to move on. Harry even says several times throughout the book that Dumbledore " would've moved on."
