A little post considering my thoughts about the dark wizard with less referrences in the books - Grindelwald - and Lord Voldemort, our new celebrity.

Throughout the books Dumbledore says, again and again, how lacking of experience and knowledge Voldemort is, which makes me come to the conclusion, that he is not in Dumbledore's outmost respect... furthermore, Dumbledore seems to control the war between them. Via Snape he is able to foresee Voldemort's moves all the way before they are set to practice... which makes me think Dumbledore is a better "tactician" than Voldemort. Dumbledore overpowers Voldemort in their duel in the fifth book (Even if the depraved idiots that made the movie made this fight be nearly won by Voldemort, meh :/ ) and in short, owns Voldemort in all fields throughout the books, knowing him "Better than he does know himself."

But what about Grindelwald?
The few times Dumbledore refers to Grindelwald - the one time, to be precise - is a referrance of how much he dreaded him. Gellert Grindelwald is the mixture of an old, dark wizard who has all the characteristics of a dark mage - with first and foremost, his greatest enemy dreading him. The one duel they had during their lifetime seems to have turned to a really close match for Dumbledore's favor. (No subject asked for Grindelwald/Dumbledore's affair, since I don't think, after the incident with his sister, Dumbledore would be in the mood for romance.)

WHICH MAKES ME CONSIDER:
Who is more dangerous as a person?
Voldemort, our new celebrity, or Grindelwald, the old-skool?
Opinions along with a poll please.

I voted Voldemort but I started thinking about it after, that Voldemort was a strong and powerful wizard, but the little that they said about Grindelwald makes him sound just as strong and powerful. I would consider both of them equally strong.

I voted for Voldemort. Voldemort was able to do what Grindelwald didn't.

i know thats what i said, i only pick voldy because of the horcruxes, cause that makes him more difficult to destroy, but we have no idea really

Voldemort is definately stronger. I don't think that Grindewald would have it in him to make horcruxes.

we really cant determine who's more powerful, it doesnt say so in the books and we cant use dumbledore to compare, cause dumble didnt attack voldy because he knew it was useless

the only thing we know is that voldy was far more difficult to kill

Ah well, true. But. The only actual image we get of Grindelwald is when Voldemort kills him in a cell... we don't really get to see his skills as a wizard, besides this fight with Dumbledore (When details are never given about, grumblegrumblegrumble...) so..

Plus, consider it this way... Voldemort was after horcruxes to make himself invincible, Grindelwald was after a more powerful source - Hallows. Those could make him invincible without having his soul being ripped as crap. Wink

Grindelwald is good, just... Just Dumbledore is better. Very Happy
