Not interested in most of the 90’s or 00’s bands. I’m into stuff like AC/DC; Bon Jovi, The Original Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Megadeth, Skid Row, Aerosmith, and the greatest band of all time Led Zeppelin.
Most of the Bands these days are just a bunch of posers.
Give me that old time Rock n Roll! Pockets your a person after my own heart! I'll take all the bands you mentioned except Megadeath. Add to that list Van Halen, Def Leppard, Styx, eagles, and Chicago. Bon Jovi is my Fav and I recently went and saw them in concert. The song Bad Medicine hooked me from then on. I'd love to see Aerosmith in concert. I agree with pockets that most of the bands now are just posers. I have noticed a distinct difference. Most of the artists now are just singers and dancers. As you can see from my list of bands, my artists were actually musicians. People who could play instruments and sing/ dance at the same time. Rappers are extremely puzzling. Most songs are just poems put to music. If they do it right. Rappers are more interested in making whatever they're saying fit the beat. They totally willing to change the way a word is normally pronounced to fit it into their beat. I generally don't like rap. It gives me a headache. When I listen to music, I like to sing along. This is impossible to do with rap, because it's not really a song and it's not really poetry either. Exactly what it is, I don't know.
I've also noticed that most of the songs today are very sexual. Always talking about sex. Really, not very sexy. Where's the romance in the songs? Analogies and induendos work much better and young kids can listen to them without really getting the whole meaning of the words. I've had to turn off more songs than I care to admit. Many of the kid movies today have some very adult jokes in them. I know because I have to keep explaining them to my daughter. _________________ You're just jealous cause the voices only talk to me!

I’m huge Van Halen fan too; guess I forgot to mention a couple of the other Bands/Artists I listen too.
Van Halen, Bob Dylan, Goo goo dolls( they may be kind of new compared to the other bands that I listed, but their one of the few new bands that are actually any good), The Calling( Same as Goo goo dolls), The Beatles( after Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band), U2, Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen (kind of). These are some of the other bands/artists.
Def Leppard is pretty good but I’m not a huge Fan.
Personally I hate Rap music. Everyone in my School either listens to Rap or “Punk Rock”. Of course they don’t know what real Punk Rock is and consider Pop Punk bands Punk Rock. Everybody’s crazy about Green Day, like their so Punk, dissing the president isn’t anything new, where were these guys when U2 actually phoned up the President during their concerts? Or when Megadeth made Architecture of Destruction?
Oh yeah, My favorite Bon Jovi song has to be “Always” and fave Aerosmith song has to be “Dream On”.
I don’t mind those adult jokes in kid movies but there is just too much sex in music. Guys like 50 cent are just ruining society (that was already ruined).
The guys from Led Zeppelin or AC/DC weren’t the best looking guys, but their music was excellent and that’s why they sold millions of records. On the other hand Britney Spears can’t sing for crap but she’s worshiped by millions for been a sex symbol, when her job is to actually make good albums. _________________
Rap aint that bad. Its a whole movement...I dont listen to it much but I love Eminem and Kanye West. The lyrics may not seem like all artistic but its art nonetheless. I mean look at Eminem, he can be a joker but some of his lyrics are quite touching actually.
I agree about the whole punk rock thing. For me I love The Killers and My Chemical Romance( and they can be considered posers by some people). The whole punk movement is just an expression of the whole f*** sh*** this feeling...but if you go back to what's considered "true punk" you have to go back to Velvet Underground, MC5, Iggy Pop, The stooges, NY Dolls, Television, Patti Smith, Ramones, Sex pistols, The clash, Dead Kennedys..... I Think that music is a very personal thing and it should'nt be looked down upon (rap) or (the punk posers). It's just art and its open to all interpretations:)
It's sad that when a band becomes so mainstream people lose respect for it. I mean Green Day has been around for ages!
I dont think that 50 cent is ruining society but that is just my liberal point of view. We had the same problem with reggaeton in my country( anyone ever heard of Daddy Yankee?)I just dont see how its ruining society.
Goo Goo dolls are great! _________________

I dont understand this whole Emo rock thing going around. I suppose its rock bands that always are singing about how life sucks and all that. Personally I think its retarded. People at my school are like "Eww...thats an emo band"....Umm Hello all types of music sing about how life sucks, but whatever its societys new way to make fun of people. _________________
Im quite partial to a bit of AC/DC myself. "You shook me all night long" rocks
And Hermione I totally agree on your veiws on Eminem. I think hes an absolute genius, the trouble is some people cant see anything but the bad in his music. I have total admiration for him. Its just a shame hes now "retired"
I agree! I was so sad when I heard that. But i know he will come back when he's better. He's a genius as you say:) My fav Eminem song is Stan:) So powerful and moving:) _________________
Yeah, Stan always stands out as one of my faves, Toy Soldiers is quite cool, and I really cant remember the name of my favourite. Ill get back to you on that when ive looked on the cd case
I love toy soldiers too...and the one he wrote to kim in his second CD. I dun remember the name but everytime i listen to that song i get goosebumps. I may listen to it tomorrow ( In time for the holiday:)
Edit: ( the song is the one who had all the controversy around it because he murders her...) _________________
If its the one Im thinking of its called "Kim". (Where he drags her out of the boot of the car and throws her in the water).
Its a VERY powerful song, but taken literally by anti-eminem supporters.
I dont know how anyone can say his music is bad etc, OK I wouldnt want my kids listening to it until they are old enough for the language reasons but any adult should see the meanings behind his songs.
^ Yeah thats the song.
LOL If I recall correctly I was 13 when I listened to that song for the first time ( my parents dont know english so they didnt know the meaning of that song). I didnt turn out that bad because i listened to Eminem....I think? LOL _________________

Goo Goo dolls are great! The calling too:)
Music is a very personal thing but what about the people that don’t write their own songs? Or don’t even sing at all most of the time (Ashley Simpson). I don’t really like the Killers but I don’t consider them posers, to me their just some musicians that aren’t very good (not yet anyway, it took Bon Jovi 2 albums to become really good).
Well I disliked Green Day from the beginning but when I go around the Internet I see people hating them for stupid reasons, but the main reason some people hate them is because they sold out, come on, an American Idiot Movie and Billy Joe a playable character in the Next Tony Hawks game?
Kanye West is ok but I dislike Eminem, but at least the guy is doing something unique.
Well guys like 50 cent are influencing my School and stuff, for example,
People who smoked weed before 50 cent appeared: 15% of my school.
After 50 cent : 65% of my school
I’m not singling out 50 cent, a lot guys like Snoop Dog are also influencing kids today. But I understands it isn’t their fault completely, people should be smart enough not to everything their “idols” do. Stupid people+ Suggestive music= Corruption. Well, at least where I live.
There is one Rap song I like it’s called welcome to India and it’s sung by Ludakrishna and Vicram MC. _________________
I dislike Ashley Simpson and her sister ( a lot) but at least she writes her songs and there is some art in that I guess. I think The killers are great and all the recognition they are getting is well-deserved ( same as with Maroon 5 last year). I bought their CD a little bit skeptic but I hear it everyday and I keep on loving it.
Green Day is just trying to hold on to their newfound mainstream fame. I mean how many years were they trying to make it and now that they do they have to hold on someway or the other. Maybe they sold out or whatever( since im not a hardcore Green Day fan I wont comment)
Kanye West is ok for me.
I just dont see how music influences that much I mean it takes a very I dont know how to put this....If you fall into weed that easily just by listening an artist sing about you are bound to smoke pot anyway. I bet many of the people who are smoking pot at your school would have done so *someday* without 50 cent. Its all about peer pressure, being "cool". They are not able to make decisions for themselves or aren't mature enough. It was bound to happen as I stated before....
50 cent just doesnt cut it for me.But I respect the fact that its a way of expression and that a lot of people like it.
Edit: I love instrumental music. _________________
