I mean, it was a great film, but, the characters didn't seem to have real significance to me. It was all about the action, and about Harry, thats all.

Hermione had very little lines, and Ron was just there. They introduced all these new characters (in the movies, anyway) and we don't get ANY sense of who they are. Tonks, nothing. Kingsley, nothing. Bellatrix, barely anything. The only one who did give the audience a sense of the character was Luna (made the movie, really) and thats it.

the romance between Cho and Harry feels very played out, like, everything that they did leading to the kiss was predictable, even for people who didn't read the books.

but, I have VERY high hopes for HBP, since Steve Kloves is back, and he best damn stay back.

Well, I used to feel the same way you did about all the films, but I guess I changed my expectations. Once I stopped comparing them to the books, I thought they were pretty good... but I do agree with you about this one being a little bit too Harry-centric; the other characters just seemed to be along for the ride and we don't get anything in-depth.

Also the romance with Cho seemed very... incomplete? I think the only thing they set it up with this movie was when Hermione said something along the lines of "Cho couldn't take her eyes off you". Then, one night after the group meets, they kiss. I dunno, just seemed a little brief and not very deep to me.

I hope they nail HBP though, it was my favorite of the books.

I agree, this movie felt very "soulless" so to speak. There were obvious problems to it, but in my opinion the most glaring issue was that the movie was basically little more than a high-tech book report done by an individual whom had just skimmed through the series (and then this happened, and then that...and then that...and this happened). You didn't really get any of the emotional POW! that the book gave you...which is a pity because in my opinion this is one of the most emotionally full books of the series.

One thing that I liked about OoTP was the atention Yates also gave to the Harry/Ginny romance. I think those simply looks of Ginny showed us how much she still loves him even dating Michael Corner. And, of course, Luna's character was great. Thank God Yates didn't put Hermione giving all the explanatios, like she did on the other movies; for example, in the book CoS, is Ron who explains what a mudblood is; in the movie, is Hermione who explains it. And there are a lot more of examples. I think in this movie, Luna had an important part, and Evanna Lynch is perfect.

The movie was jumbled up in my opinion, they made it jumbled up in a good way, but they didn't follow the book well.

I'm pretty sure there was a Planet Room in the movie where they went. But wasn't shown in the movie, disappointing really when they leave all the good parts out, even the Beetle At Bay wasn't shown in the movie.

I didn't like it, I came out of the cinema thinking why the **** did I just watch that?

I was shaking before I went in, with excitement, thinking about all my favourite bits and if they'd be in there, and I watched it, and was dismayed that most of the bits I liked weren't in there... like quidditch Sad

But I liked it as a film, not compared to the book, just as a film... It was better watching it then not. Smile
