so um yeah, i'm going back to my school in November, after my tour is over and it will be my junior year, and my boyfriend's senior year, so i'm gonna go to prom. I want him to go too, and i'm gonna beg. I know some of you have probably been and i need pure and utter no other way to say it HELP!!!!!
i love fashion, but when it comes to what i wear, i'm CLUELESS. so for me and other people that may not know what is best for them in evening wear, i am making this so it doesn't become a last minute thing.

^so this is me. I'm 5'8-9' and i weight in as of today at 86 lbs. I'm tall and twiggy and i have no idea what to wear and i am torn between trying to be pretty, and trying to be my punk self in a....dress. Can someone help? i'm trying to start looking now....but i have no idea where to look even. [/img]

i say be different!
be a little punk
but not OTT
i think black is ure safest option and it suits you!
look everywhere! chain stores, op shops, savers, boutiques
vintage or anything
and you can jazz it up with layered necklaces and great shoes:)

OMG...this year happened to be my junior year too and you know there's prom in this year but for me in the philippines it'll happen in febuary 2009 and our school year(as juniors) started in june 2008.

i suggest you go for a little black dress with some cute embroidery in it like roses, vines and filigrees in your fave color and the skirt in knee lenght with a kind of style like this:

just imagine there are some designs in it



then put on some silver jewelry like some silver chains, crosses, gothic looking rings and some goth jewelry but not too much.

also on the makeup, don't put too much foundation and don't make your face look like it belongs to a heavy metal ala Lordi concert than a prom, unless if everyone from your class will also sport that kind of make up. and i think you should make yourself as natural as possible coz your face is beautful and too much makeup will ruin it.

for me, im also thinking of the same kind of prom dress but i shouldn't make it look too goth coz here in the Philippines they hate it. they're too conformist when it comes to social events, follow the trends or else meet outcastness. maybe i should go for a black dress with some silver jewelry and a few makeup will do. We don't get a prom. We get some kind of prom though...when were 17.
My idea is wear something good, I think something like Amy Winehouse, you look like her a bit.

aww. thank you all. didn't expect much help but this is great. thank you so much. these are all beautiful dresses and some of what i was looking for. lately, i've become fond of a dress like this one, and alot of people say that i look like Avril in a way.....[which is weird cuz Bill Kaulitz is my cousin and theydon't say that about him] anyway, i was thinking, what is your opinion on wearing this to my prom? or should i save something like this for a photoshoot or a the VMAs or something? i mean, there are different levels of evening wear and things that aren't at all......and i'm mixed up.

thing that i'm mostly worried about is....well you can probably all tell, i'm as flat as they come. No boobs no where. I'm way way way underweight, and as a doctor told me sunday, barely alive. lol. Is there any chance i can pull off a dress like that? i mean...there's absolutely nothing. i know there are miracle bras....but i mean...don't u gotta put something in it for it to work? i dunno. enlighten me on that. Neutral

or should i go with something more elegant?

I can see it. and yeah I was gonna say EAT! and don't go dress shopping until you get your weight up, so the dress will fit. I think you should go with black accented by red. something sort of like a cocktail dress but funkier. you could get lacy evening gloves and cut off the fingers.

I like the way Avril's dress is. But if you do something like that I would suggest that you don't wear the fishnet stockings or the chucks. uh... hmm... that might actually make it not as much punk. :/ But you can dress it up other ways. and that second pic, It's really formal. Shocked Not that that's a bad thing. I like Arabella's idea of getting a black dress with red accents. Or the color accents of your choosing. (i would go with a lime green, personally, lol.) and like bella said, you could get some sort of gloves in that same accent color and do something cool with them, to get them cool. :]

In my opinion, you should go glam. If I'm not mistaken, your boyfriend probably doesn't see you dressed up all fancy that often. So surprise him. I'm sure you'll look stunning no matter what you wear!! Oh, for dress color...hmm... You'd look very nice in red, I bet. PM me if you want.

i think you should wear something true to you but still pretty. for example, if you are into the punk scene wear something pink and accessorize with skulls or plaid. if you would rather wear black, thats fine also.

maybe a leapord print clutch or shoes. if you dont want to spike your hair for prom use funky hair clips.

i think i like the first one but make it black coz "black looks good and looking good means no dandruff" according to Rain teh korean pop singer and aka speedracer-just kidding lol !!! maybe combine the avril dress(make it black) and the awesome designs of the second one and it'll look great on you. Very Happy

....i had my first mcdonalds experience. *shivers* IT HAD THREE PIECE OF BREAD! Shocked [i weigh 79 lbs!]

nothing to be jealous of my friend, i'm nothing special. just ur average punk kid. lol.

and he doesn't. ever. i didn't even wear a dress to my own album release....lol. my guys seem to think red would be a good color too. i'll try red. thanks much!
