I thought it was Tom Riddle since he's half-blood. I am happy it turned out to be Snape, though.

I went through a bunch of suspects including, Snape, Slughorn, Dumbledore, James, Sirius, Lily, Voldemort, Hagrid... I also wondered if it was an unknown character we were going to be introduced or someone extremely surprising, like Harry's grandfather or Hermione's great grandmother or someone like that.

I had no idea. No matter how much I wracked my brain, I couldn't come up with an answer. Snape never even crossed my mind!

I had always thought it was Snape actually. I figured he was a half-blood and that he deserved to have a book named after him.

Yeah, for me there was always something more to his position as Potion's teacher than just "I didn't get DADA so here I am". I think he secretly loved it!

voldie.

- half blood.
- practically a prince, being heir of slytherin.
- the book was about bits and pieces of his life

So did I. I kind of had a feeling that the character would have been introduced within the first few chapters of hte book, though. Jo also threw us off by offering that one explanation of Rufus Scrimgeour months before the books realease. We were all positive that it was the explanation of the HBP himself. Why else would she have chosen that smalle snippet of the sixth book for a sneak peek?

Boy was it disappointing to find out who the passage was talking about . . . Rolling Eyes

I was thinking it was Harry's dark spirit that suddenly was transformed into a ghostly dark wizard by Voldemort.

I agree, didn't give much clues who it was until Hermione found out about Snape mother.

While reading the book I had a theory that it was Tom Riddle and that the Potions books was going to have a similar effect on Harry that the diary had on Ginny. I thought it would have been awesome if the HBP turned out to the Voldemort, since Harry was so sure it was his dad. It would have made for a nice twist for him.

I think that it made a pretty good twist for him to find out that it was Snape when he thought it was his dad . . .

I also thought it was half of Voldemort's spirit contained into a dark darkness which protected the Locket!

I imagine it with yellow flashing eyes with darkness roaring when it moves, like in the Ootp when Bellatrix flys around the room with dark following her.

Oh, it was a good twist, just different from what I expected... which means it was a better twist... if that makes any sense.

Do you think that the HPB should have protected the locket, that would make it better.

Well, Lucius was looking over the diary... he didn't know it was a Horcrux, but still.. that didn't work out so well. And he had Bellatrix and Rodolphus keeping another Horcrux safe in the bank, but that, too, didn't turn out so well. Voldemort couldn't give Snape an object to look over, he'd probably worry that with Snape working so close to DD that he might get caught.

Hmm...Lucius with diary, Bellatrix with cup, Yaxley well with the locket...

Do you think that Voldemort chose his best followers to protect the horcruxes?

Yaxley had the locket?

And yeah, he did choose his most faithful fllowers, which was ironic because he wasn't a very trusting person.
