...another rip-off, in my opinion. When I heard "Breathe In Breathe Out" with the lyrics "in your eyes...in your eyes" for the first time, my immediate reaction was, "I guess Coldplay has a new song out...nice melody but kind of unintriguing". After hearing the radio dj say that song was by Mat Kearney, I was like "who???...wtf!"
Then (to bring my point home), a few days later I see the music video of the same song at a store, and its like I'm watching Chris Martin in a Coldplay video. Mat K is walking down a street and the camera is right on his face as he sings!
And what's with him seducing Pocahontas? It's like strange product placement, or just plain exploitation to me.
Sorry, I'm tired of "music by upcoming artists" on tv shows (I don't watch Greys Anatomy anyway), and I'm tired of watered-down versions or rip-offs. Even Coldplay pulls from other songs (but they wholeheartedly admit to it, so I'm a little more forgiving towards them). |
