Since Harry cleared Hargids name in the second book, Why does Hagrid not purchase a wand in the third book? Or take his out of the umbrella?

But in the later books, Hagrid never does magic. Is it because he doesn't know enough?

The wand in his umbrella works just fine for him.
hagrid does use magic in the later books....
He uses magic in OotP when the Ministry officials come to take him away. In HBP when he goes after Snape. And DH when they are on the motorcycle.

Softballchicky32: What is the extent of Hagrid's magical powers?
JK Rowling replies -> Not great! He can do magic to a fairly basic standard and occasionally surprises everyone (himself included) by bringing off more impressive bits of magic. Of course, he is somewhat hampered by the fact that his wand is broken and disguised as an umbrella.

Q: Since Hagrid's name was cleared in Book 2, will he ever be allowed to do magic openly again ? (Jan Campbell)
A: He is allowed. He has been allowed to do magic openly ever since he became a teacher but because he was never fully trained his magic is never going to be what it should be. He is always going to be a bit inept.

Hmm. Interesting. So is this sort of like learning a foreign language, the magic thing? Its easier to pick it up when you are a kid, and once past a certain age, you cannot further enhance your potential for using magic?
