I don't know. The cover of volume one kind of put me at a stand still. I'm sure my mom wouldn't apreciate that if I read it.

It depends on what kinds of Manga you like. Since your kind of new to that whole manga/anime stuff I'm guessing, I suggest reading different kinds of manga publishers (such as Shojo Beat, Shonen Jump, Tokyo Pop, etc.) to find out your preferences.

If you're more into love stories and girl/boy drama-Shojo Beat

If you're more into fighting and heroes-Shonen Jump

If your into different stuff (I don't know, like a talking mushroom who takes showers with a chibi mailman or something)-Tokyo Pop

Or something totally different.

I personally reccomend Vampire Knight or Inuyasha something like that.

Hope it helps. Or I could just be totally off topic and not even realize it.

Vampire Knight is a good suggestion. I would also suggest something like a Kaori Yuki manga. She writes very good stories with interesting plots (Godchild and Angel Sanctuary are the only ones in English so far).

As VampireWolf77 put it, it all depends on your preference. Absolute Boyfriend is cute, and Inuyasha is where almost everyone starts. But that's because it's a good way to get introduced to anime/manga.

And one genre got left out of that category- Yaoi/Shounen-ai (boyXboy). If you're interested in any of that at all, I would recommend publishers like Blu, Yaoi Press, June Manga, and Kitty Media.
