Wisconsin Toddler, 1, Left in Day Care Van Overnight
Saturday, December 01, 2007

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee police were investigating how a 1-year-old asthmatic was left in a locked-up day care van overnight in the cold, MyFoxMilwaukee.com reports.

The van was supposed to drop off Zakia Goff at her home at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, where her mother was waiting to meet her after working second shift at her job.

“I was just praying to God, like ‘Please God, bring my baby back,’” the toddler’s mother, Denise Lindsey, said.

After waiting outside for the van and then calling relatives, emergency contacts and the Sunrise to Sunset day care, which was closed, Lindsey called 911 at midnight.

Police arrived at the parking lot at 12:30 a.m. and broke open the locked gate to reach the van, where they found the child asleep in her booster seat.

“She could have frozen because it’s really cold outside,” said Lindsey, adding that Zakia is an asthmatic who takes medication and uses a breathing machine.

Day care personnel declined to comment on the incident.

Wtf....How do you leave a child out in the cold. If i was the parent of that child i would bring down the day care company.

This is up there with the Hooters broad that left her toddler in the car all day and into the night while she worked.

It's strange how the article doesn't elaborate on how the child was just forgotten about in the van. Does the article even mention the name of the Day Care service?

No, I didn't mean you left anything out... I meant whoever wrote the story did. WHich means somehting was left out for a reason. And most likely it was a shady reason.

Or that further investigation is needed, and releasing too much information or the wrong information, would jeapordize the ongoing investigation.

That is my guess because that is what happened over the summer when a kid wandered into a pool and drowned. I was reading the article over the phone to my friend and we were both like... wait a minute. The article was very shady sounding, like they were leaving out details, you know? Sure enough the parents were charged with ongoing neglect and the police themselves were reprimanded for not taking the neighbors warnings seriously. Had the parents been let known about the investigation, then they would have had time to cover their tracks. And definitely the same with the police.

They didn't, not in this case, anyway... they just let their kid wander around the neighborhood. The kid was only, like 2or 3 at the time.

There was a couple of incidents like that last summer, but this kid in particular was much younger, only a toddler.

It said that the day care wouldn't comment. The journalist cannot tell the reason without knowing it.

Yeah, they wouldn't comment to the journalist, but they must have said something to the parents or the cops.

They might have not comented to any one yet so that they don't further inciminate themselves. The cops came in the middle of the night, and no one was at the preschool. The parents might have called, but the preschool directors may not have commented to them, especially if they had already hired an attorney.

Which is very possible.

That's sort of my point. It makes them look very guilty, whether they are or not.
