These books a friggin AWESOME!! The first book is The Northern Lights but in america its known as the Golden Compass. Its worth reading, it got me hooked

Are they really that good. I heard about a bunch of controversy over them. I never heard of them until the movie came out, I thought it looked pretty good though. What are they about.
