This is a highly sensitive topic and I wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it in Politics & News because a lot of people seem to go in this section. I don't know if there's another thread for this, but I wanted to make sure that whoever needs the help, can get it here (along with many other places on the internet and off).

An acquaintance of mine was pronounced dead yesterday late at night because of suicide, which is why I have posted this thread; in a sort of "memorial" to her. I, myself, am a victim of attempted suicide -- but that was years ago. I know what it's like to feel like the whole world has ended and there's just no point in "it" anymore (whatever "it" may be for you). I know what it's like to feel like you don't matter and feel like no one cares and that you are all alone in this world of hopelessness and feel defeated and/or used, to feel like you want to kill the next person you see or the person, group, or thing that has caused you to feel the way you do.

I also know what it's like to feel that not-so friendly silver razorblade glide across your skin, piercing it into a "heavenly bliss" so the pain will be taken away; but only for a moment and then again when you need to feel that "rush" or you just want to let go... But that is the opposite of the answer.

Like I said, I have no idea if this already a thread or not, but I just wanted people on here or if you just so happened to be a Guest on here and stumble upon this thread at a very desperate time, you can get the help. There are many MANY smart individuals on these forums that are sure to help out.

I believe that there is no reason to try and end your life.

I saw on the news a couple of days ago, in Britain, a boy, 17, I think, was standing on top of a building, about to commit suicide. Lots of people were standing around, jeering at him, while the police tried to coax him to come down and not jump. He ended up jumping 60 feet and died instantly. People also took pictures and videos, trying to get close up to the body.

I know people with seemingly nothing wrong in their lives, who self harm. In a group of about 8 of my friends, only two of us, me and Liz (lizilla), had never cut ourselves.

But this is about suicide, not self harming. I think one of my friends - well she's kind of broken away from the group said she's attempted suicide. It seems insensitive, but I didn't really believe it, she is a bit of an attention seeker.

I've never known someone really to attempt suicide, but apparently it can get catching. Ever heard of the bridgend suicides? Kids there find it normal, even 'fashionable' to do it. Many teens have or attempted suicide there. One girl who had attempted suicide who knew some teens who died in Bridgend, she thought, 'You know, my life is just average, have I really got anything to live for?' Kids think it's cool to have a memorial websites for the suicides.

To conclude, suicide doesn't help anything, it makes things worse. People who love you will never get over the hell that they now have to live in.
Attempting suicide is easy to fail, it can lead to high injuries, and you family or partner now has to live with your injuries. There are people who will listen, a counsellors or therapists, friends, family or partners. If people don't take you seriously, that shouldn't push anyone to do it.

If you know someone who's feeling suicidal, just talk about it with them, listen, don't dare them to do it, don't be judgemental, be calm and not shocked. Get support, intervene, try and get rid of anything they have access to that could help them kill themselves. Help them to get back onto the right track again.
