Melissa Anelli, creator and webmaster of The Leaky Cauldron wrote a book...

"Harry, A History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon"

Spoiler:

An excerpt from the forward JKR wrote...
Quote:
Not until sometime in 2002 did I finally crack, and do the thing that people assumed I did daily. I Googled Harry Potter.

I knew, of course, that there were fan sites out there. My postbag was full of mentions of them, my readers assuming that I was au fait with what was happening online. My PA, Fiddy, had had contact with a few of the webmasters. But I was still utterly unprepared what I found during that first, mammoth trawling session.

The fan sites were so professional-looking; easily up to the standard of any of my publishers' sites. And they had tens of thousands of visitors. They had forums, message boards, editorials, rolling news, fan art, fan fiction, quotes of the day from my books... and the shipping wars… my God, the shipping wars…

Amazon

What do you guys think of this? The title is sort of annoying... it's so long. JKR's forward looks good, it's interesting to hear her say that she looks at fansites.

Dude! I would (and will) buy it! Anyone who writes about Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling is going to cash in a few pretty pennies. Adoring fans are just like that. Me included lol.

If it's available in the UK, I'm buying it!

And JK Rowing doing the foreward, that's interesting!

The first Harry Potter book may have been first published in the United States in September 1998, but the first fan fiction did not arrive until 1999. On September 4, 1999, "Harry Potter and the Man of Unknown" by Gypsy became the first Harry Potter fan fiction posted to FanFiction.Net, what was to become the largest archive of Harry Potter fan fiction on the net, reading 250,000 stories in June of 2006.

That's some pretty interesting trivia. Seriously. That's quite awesome.

naw, I see "Harry, a History" as the title and the rest as a subtitle sort of thing. not even that...a jacket blurb. I like it. but I would just refer to it by the actual title part, not all of that.

Seriously, Harry, A History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon does not exactly roll off the tounge. I didn't even type it. I copied and pasted. Very Happy

I see the second part as the subtitle, too, but all I know is that when I had to do my work cited page in school, I had to write/type out that whole darn title, subtitle and all. I see no reason as to why that subtitle needs to be there. Just more work for me to have to do. Sad
