Ok, just a debate in whether JKR invented Ginny/Harry because of reader pressure. My stand is no, Harry always took time to notice her and contrary to what people say, it didn't only start half through hbp, it was in ootp too! Besides how many examples have we seen that someone can know someone their whole life, but only fall inlove when they grow up, or afer something shocking happens, and they realize they might loose that person?
Both sides welcome, bring proof. Thanks _________________
I agree with you. I don't think she invented them because of "Reader Pressure" or anything. I think she just realized the potential that they had to capture the hearts of all the fans and she groomed that relationship beautifully until the relationship's climax at the end of DH in the Epilogue.
For the record, I think the same thing about Ron and Hermione's relationship except that it was even more groomed than Harry and Ginny's because it was apparent in more books than Harry and Ginny's.
No matter what the reason was, JKR has some serious Mojo when it comes to intertwining relationship's like she did.
JKR had the series planned out from the start. I believe she always intended to have Harry and Ginny end up together.
It was a more gradual progression than most anti-H/G shippers are willing to admit. Ginny liked Harry from the beginning. Harry thought of Ginny as his best friend's little sister. But as she relaxed around him, she was able to be herself around him. As she was herself around him, he got to know her... and liked what he knew.
JKR was never one to cave into to reader pressure. She killed off popular characters, takes stands on issues, and admits flaws. I can't see hre putting two characters together just becaues. If that was the case, seh'd have put Neville/Luna together. Personally, I agree with her that they dont' seem good together, but that's not the popular opinion. So if JKR didnt put those two together, then why would he put another couple together for that reason? _________________ Breathing is optional. Look, Bella, look.
I think it's strange that every couple in all the books seems to have met in school, but, yeah... It was clear that Cho couldn't be his girl, so JKR choose someone he always liked, but just as, you know, a sister. _________________ Click, please

Well, in regards to harry potter, it's definitely understandable. ALL of your friends come from your school, seeing as you spend 24/7 with them 330 days a year over the course of 7 years.
Yeah, I can definitely see how they would date within their school. _________________ "Once again, I must ask too much of you Harry."
The relationship part was kind of lame if you ask me. I really looked forward to a dramatic ending where Ron and Harry died. (I was sure Ron would die even when I reached the last pages, especially after Ron/Hermione kiss) I admit that Harry/Ginny looked kinda bad to me at first, (I was still into Harry/Cho, it really didn't end like it should) but it then worked its way out pretty well and I got to like the couple a big big deal. _________________ CONSTANT VIGILANCE, SCUMBAGS!
I know what everyone means about how she doesn't seem like the kind of person to just put 2 ppl together to please. ANd I see what GinnyX means about the Luna/Neville thing. I've had my experience with N/L shippers, but if I think about it, it just seems wrong. _________________
Neville is too "noble" to do something such as ask Luna out. There might have been a light thing going on between 'em but nothing important. I do like this ship but Luna isn't the sort of character that I'd fall for a ship into. There's certain characters that are ship characters, like Ginny, Ron, Hermione. There's other characters that are just the opposite, like Neville, Mad Eye Moody (Respect!), Luna. _________________ CONSTANT VIGILANCE, SCUMBAGS!
I think she always knew what she was writing in terms of Harry and Ginny. You can especially see it in CoS, and very much in Ootp and HBP. I don't think there was any fan pressure involved, same with Ron and Hermione. You can Just see it all from the beginning. _________________

Well, not all of the characters do... Percy, Bill, Luna, Tonks, Lupin, all end up with people they didnt' meet while in school. Well, not sure about Percy, he might have known Audrey while in school, but they didnt' actually go out during school. Same with Draco. The thing is, school for them isn't like school for most of us. We can't wait to get out of school and go off to college or work or where ever. For them, school was like home, where their friends were like their family. So it's not so surprising that they manage to form very strong bonds with each other. _________________ Breathing is optional. Look, Bella, look.
I don't think J.K.R. did that because of pressure. Like GinnyX said, she had the whole series planned out and it just went from there. Harry and Ginny are meant to be. _________________ "I reside in the clouds."

This is probably a really stupid question, but who is Audrey? It seems she married Percy, but I had'nt heard anything about that. Fill me in please! _________________
Audrey? Probably some chick from Beauxbatons or a Ravenclaw we just never heard about. _________________ "I reside in the clouds."

We don't know anything about her except that JKR said something like, Audrey sounds like a girl's name who would fit well with Percy. Or something like that. _________________ Breathing is optional. Look, Bella, look.
Well. Pretty much same reason why I'd prefer Draco Malfoy to be with Parkinson. I don't like the whole interviews-announcements. They seem to me like un-Canon, OC chars. I haven't heard about Astoria Greengrass, and her sister is mentioned once in the books - as for Audrey, no comments. _________________ CONSTANT VIGILANCE, SCUMBAGS!
I knida like that they didnt' all meet their spouses in school, though. it makes it seem a lot more real somehow. _________________ Breathing is optional. Look, Bella, look.
Well, Ron did. So did Ginny and Hermione. *shrug* Looks like the less important characters get the backdoor exit. _________________ CONSTANT VIGILANCE, SCUMBAGS!
Not really... Lupin and Tonks didnt, and JKR obviously considers them important enough. Luna and Rolf didn't meet in school either, and Luna was certainly important, imo.
I really think that Penelope was a girl Percy dated and cared about, but probably things didn't work out, as relationships in schools sometimes dont. I find Percy and Audrey type of relationship mroe common and believable than all those people who met in school and stayed together. _________________ Breathing is optional. Look, Bella, look.
