not with miniatures. Just with paper, pencil and dice. Before, minis were just an option. Now, you pretty much have to use them. I need to know if you can play with just pen 'n' paper with editions 3.5. and 4. Does that help?

3.5 can be played with pen and paper because I've done it. I prefer it honestly, My imagination is boundless. BOUNDLESS I SAY!

That in itself is alot of work. Basically, it requires alot of writing on everyone's part. Lots of manual things...here's a good way to describe it:

do you know any online instructions or? Because I'm not a fan of minis and I want to try playing like that. If you know anyone who can explain things clearly, let me know. Plus, it'll save tons of space.

Whoever acts as your Dungeon Master would probably have information..I'm not really sure what instructions you need though. You basically create things from scratch..

I'm gonna talk to my DM tomorrow. I never asked him before, so he might know.
