I think Voldemort wanted the Mirror of Erised. It would be the perfect place to hide a horcrux, wouldn't it? Someone wanting to distroy it would only see themselves distorying it. What do you guys think?

If the mirror showed the person destroying the Horcrux, then the person would know how to destroy the Horcrux. I don't think that would be very good for Voldemort.

The Mirror of Erised can give you something if you desire it enough, but not want it, if that makes sense?

Dumbledore might not have been able to see anything because really the Horcruxes didnt affect him, they affected Harry.

no, the mirror of erised doesn't give you anything, it just shows you what you desire the most. In the case of the sorcerer's stone, every teacher put their own little charm and enchantment and traps for the protection of the stone, and DD enchanted it to allow only a person who doesn't want to take the stone for their own power to get it, because he knew anyone going through all those traps, spells, and enchantments would desire the stone at the end... the mirror doesn't give you what you don't want to use...otherwise you wouldn't see it...you see your hearts desire at that moment. It was just a special case for the stone.

If voldemort used the mirror I think it would be a good idea. no one would expect it for one thing, so if they were to ever run into it and look at it, they would see their hearts deepest desires, and get distracted...imagine Harry looking into the mirror [not knowing its a horcrux] looked into it, he wouldn't even be thinking of the horcruxs, but he would see his parents. If he did want to destroy all the horcruxs, I definatly don't think the mirror would tell him what they are or where they are, he would just see voldemort dead at his feet or something.

Not quite. They would see what they were planning to do to distroy the horcrux, even if it wouldn't really work.

So, it resally depends. Harry saw the stone... Quirell saw what he would do with it. It depends on that person's intent. But can Voldemort truly be sure what that person's intent would be. He knew someone would someday want to destroy it, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered hiding them at all. I think it depends on what the person wants to see in the mirror. But either way, very risky.

Can't someone just destroy the mirror and then the horcrux would be destroyed? Because if u destroy the mirror, wouldn't the horcrux disappear or would his soul just float out in nowhere.

Depends on how the mirror is destroyed. They'd need to use basilisk venom or that fire thing.

Doesn't the mirror give you something if you need it but do not want it.

No, it just shows you your heart's desire.

I doubt Voldemart even knew about the mirror.

And I think if he looked at the mirror he wouldn't think anything of it, probably just think its another mirror. Think about it.

What did he really want? To live forever, to defy death. So looking in the mirror he would see himself as he is, cause thats what he really wanted. He didn't care about wealth, family or anything else that the mirror could have readily shown him. All he cared about was enduring forever as he was, because he thought he was perfect.

You have to keep in mind Voldemort had very non-ordinary preferences , he knew what he wanted , he wanted an emotional banding with it , something that would mean something to him.

And do bear in mind that he thought that the only one who knew about him having those horcruxes was himself (you may call this arrogant , i call it rather normal , seeing he didnt even tell it to his closest DE) .

Voldemort definitely knew about the Mirror of Erised and how it worked. But it wouldn't have worked properly for him, it would show his alive and poweful, but not how to obtain it. Just like in PS/SS.

No he wouldn't. The fact that the mirror gave Harry the stone had nothing to do with the mirror itself, it was just DD's enchantment on the mirror.
