(Keep in mind that this is short. I don't have time for these things. This post is the first and final entry to this fan fiction. Even though it's short, I sincerely hope you enjoy it.)
"First years, wait along here." Professor McGonagall told the first years. "Now, we're going to go inside and you'll be sorted into your houses. There's Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin." Hermione Granger, a muggle born, talented, smart, bushy-haired girl got a chill as she turned around to see a blonde boy by the name Draco Malfoy. He smiled (needless to say, it was questionable as to wether it was genuine or not) at her, then, he refocused his attention back on Professor McGonagall. Hermione turned around, brushing a piece of her bushy hair out of her face, and looked at Professor McGonagall. "Follow me." The first years walked up to the front of the great hall, where there were countless eyes starring up at them. "Dumbledore would like to talk for a few minutes."
"Hogwarts isn't always safe," Dumbledore started. "I know it seems unneccessary to tell you this as you first walk into this school, but I feel it is." Dumbledore said. "Beware of anything that might come across your path." Dumbledore continued. "There are secrets everywhere, but, keep in mind, not all secrets are rewarding." Dumbledore looked at the first years. "Thank you." he sat down.
"Now, when I call your name, you will come forth, I will put the Sorting Hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses." McGonagall said, raising the Sorting Hat. "Hermione Granger?" Hermione walked up, terrified. She sat on the stool as the Sorting Hat was placed on her head.
"Hmm.. okay, GRYFFINDOR!" the Sorting Hat shouted. Draco looked down and looked back up at her. It was the last time he felt he could look at her with some respect, he knew he would be in Slytherin.
"Draco Malfoy?" McGonagall called. Draco walked up, confidently.
"I'm torn between two.." the Sorting Hat said. Everyone gasped in surprise. Everyone would think that Draco would be in Slytherin right away. "I've got to go with.. GRYFFINDOR!" the Sorting Hat shouted. He walked over by the Gryffindors, taking the seat across from Hermione. He dared not to look at her.
"Why is he ignoring me?" she whispered to herself.
"I'm sorry, did you say something?" Percy asked her. She shook her head and looked down.
"No, nothing at all." Hermione said.
"Ronald Weasley?" McGonagall called. Ron walked up, nearly as terrified as Hermione.
"Ah, another Weasley." the Sorting Hat chuckled. "GRYFFINDOR!" Ron smiled as he sat down next to Hermione.
"Harry Potter?" McGonagall called. Harry walked up.
"Hmm.. difficult. Very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see.. not a bad mind either, there's talent, oh, yes, and to prove yourself.. but, where to put you?" the Sorting Hat questioned.
"Not Slytherin.." Harry whispered.
"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it's all here in your head.. and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, yes, no doubt about that. No? Well, if you're sure.. better be, GRYFFINDOR!" the Sorting Hat shouted. Applauses echoed the room as everyone (even the Slytherins) clapped for him.
The feast went on, and they were able to have the rest of the day used as free time to browse the castle. Basically everyone walked on their own so that they could get a good glance at every little thing, Hermione and Draco turned out to be some of those people. Hermione walked slowly, and ended up bumping into someone.
"So sorry." Hermione said.
"Don't worry about it." Draco said, as he sped past her. Hermione looked confused.
"All students must go into their dormitories at once." Professor McGonagall said over the announcements. They all groaned. The time flew by, and they wished they could've seen more. The castle and the castle grounds were huge, Hogwarts in general was huge. They would definately need to have another opportunity like this. They all sighed as they walked up to the fat lady.
"Caput Droconus." Percy said. All of the Gryffindors walked in. Draco heard his father in the hallway. He assumed the sound was coming from Dumbledore's office. He resented from going inside the common room.
"He shall not stay in Gryffindor!" Lucius shouted at Dumbledore. "He belongs in Slytherin - no, Dumbledore, I don't care about what that rubbish of a hat said!"
"Don't you dare." the Sorting Hat said. "It was two houses I was confused as to putting him in, and I chose Gryffindor over Slytherin. Don't test me."
"Shut up, you bloody hat." Lucius said. "He cannot stay in Gryffindor!" Lucius repeated.
"I will consider switching him," Dumbledore said. "Somehow, it will be chosen soon. I will contact you." he said, cautiously. Lucius nodded and left. Draco walked into the common room slowly.
He looked around. Everyone was getting ready for bed. It was midnight, and no one was allowed to leave. Hermione walked outside of the girls' dormitory in a red, sewed sweater with a pair of jeans. Draco walked out of the boys' dormitory in a black hoodie and jeans. They glanced at eachother. Draco looked down. He was trying to avoid getting attached to Hermione.
"Are you alright?" Hermione asked him.
"I'm fine." he said.
"Why have you been avoiding me?" Hermione asked.
"It's not just you, I guess.." Draco said. "Everyone in Gryffindor."
"Why?" Hermione asked. "Everyone said you were destined for Slytherin, but you're not. So, deal with the people you're with." Hermione said, flatout. Draco looked down.
"I wish it was that simple." he said, walking towards the common room. Hermione followed him.
"What do you mean?" Hermione asked. "It's just a change of plans."
"It's so much more than that. I overheard my father talking to Dumbledore about switching me." Draco said, fiddling with his fingers. "I don't want to get too attached."
"The Sorting Hat put you in Gryffindor for a reason - "
"Yeah, and according to the hat he was torn between me being in Gryffindor or Slytherin - "
"And he put you in Gryffindor, didn't he?" Hermione said. Draco had nothing to say. "I'm out." Hermione said, walking towards the exit of the common room.
"Where are you going?" Draco asked.
"A walk." Hermione said, putting her hands in her pockets.
"Are you out of your mind?" Draco asked. "Honestly, you'll get in so much trouble when you're caught." She rolled her eyes at this remark.
"Who says I'm going to get caught?" Hermione asked, heading for the door.
"Wait!" Draco called. She turned around and crossed her arms over her chest. "Let me come with you." Hermione shrugged and nodded.
"Suit yourself." Hermione said. They both walked through the back exit of Hogwarts. They both walked slowly down the path, saying nothing. They approached the forbidden forest. "We can't go in there."
"Yeah, uh, no, we can't." Draco said.
"For a few minutes?" Hermione asked, innocently. Draco chuckled and nodded.
"Fine." Draco said. "For a few minutes." They walked in. A mysterious figure grabbed Hermione. She screamed. "LET HER GO!" Draco shouted. "V-Voldemort?" Draco questioned.
"Oh, so, you're not entirely stupid are you?" Voldemort laughed. "Idiot." he said. "Fetch me Potter and then she can go." he said.
"Don't do it, Draco." Hermione said.
"Don't do it, Draco." Voldemort mimicked. "CRUCIO!" he shouted at Hermione.
"Is anyone in here?!" a voice shouted. A boy about Draco and Hermione's size came in. He had a scar and glasses. A tall, red-haired boy walked beside him. That's all they needed to see to know who they were.
"RUN BACK, POTTER - ER - HARRY! WEASLEY - ER - RON, YOU TOO!" Draco shouted at him. Harry hesitated. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! JUST GO! RUN WHILE YOU CAN!"
"Voldemort." Harry said.
"Oh, God.." Ron groaned.
"CRUCIO!" he shouted at Draco.
"Is that Hermione and Draco?!" Harry shouted.
"Third times the charm." Voldemort said, raising his wand at Ron. "CRUCIO!" Ron screamed at the pain. "One more should do it.. CRUCIO!" Voldemort raised his want at Harry. Harry collapsed and felt the torture running through him, just like the other three did before. "AVADA KADAVERA!" Voldemort shouted at Harry.
"EXPELLIARMUS!" Harry shouted. He rejected Voldemort's wand, casting it far into the forest.
"It's not over, Potter. You idiot." Voldemort said, softly, as he walked into the forest, in search of his wand.
The four students laid there, helplessly.
The next morning, all four of them found themselves laying in hospital beds.
"You all alright?" said a couple of Gryffindors.
"Ah, Draco!" Lucius said as he walked in, pushing the other Gryffindors aside.
"Don't do that!" Draco said.
"What?" Lucius laughed. "Don't push Gryffindors? What are you on about?" Draco groaned and rolled his eyes.
"It's settled, Lucius." Dumbledore told him. "Draco will stay in Gryffindor. He showed a great deal of bravery last night." Dumbledore said.
"This cannot be true!" Lucius said.
"Sadly for you, it is." Dumbledore said with a weak smile.
"Reason with him, Draco!" Lucius said.
"Nah." Draco shrugged. "I'm fine where I am."
"You'll regret this." Lucius said, as he stormed out of the room. Draco smirked. Hermione looked at him and gave him a smile.
"Potter, Malfoy, Weasley.. you may go to eat." Madame Promfrey said. "Hermione, you've got to stay."
"Why can't she go?" Draco asked.
"She's too weak." Madame Promfrey said. "Go along, you wouldn't want to be late. Albus, you better go as well." Madame Promfrey said. Draco grabbed a hold of Hermione's hand and let go lightly. Hermione smiled. The three boys left.
"Everyone, I feel that everyone has the right to know what happened last night." Dumbledore stood up. "What happened was that Voldemort returned." the students gasped. "There were four people there." Dumbledore said. "There was Harry Potter, who faught him away, who will earn 50 points for his courage and bravery. There was Ronald Weasley, who stayed by Harry and was brave enough to come in the forbidden forest with him, with that, he earns 50 points. There was also Draco Malfoy, who was trying to prevent Harry from coming to get to hurt, who earns 50 points for his bravery." Dumbledore smiled. "Lastly, there was Hermione Granger who is still in the hospital wing. She suffered a lot, and overcame it all, and she earns 50 points - why, she's over there now!" Dumbledore said, pointing at the back. She smiled as she walked over to sit next to Harry, Ron and Draco. Draco stood up before she could sit down.
"You alright?" Draco asked her. Hermione nodded and gave him a hug. Draco smiled and hugged her back. They both sat down.
"Are you questioning being in Gryffindor now?" she asked.
"No." Draco said. "I'd never do well in Slytherin." Draco said, as he turned to face the front. Hermione grabbed a hold of his hand, he responded and held hers too.
"Let the feast begin!" Dumbledore said. Food appeared right in front of their eyes.
"This has been quite the tough couple of days, huh?" Harry asked.
"Oh, yeah." Ron said.
"I think it's good that happened." Draco said. "Otherwise, I'd still question myself as to wether I should be in Slytherin or Gryffindor." Draco said. "At least now I know I'm supposed to be here." The four of them ate quickly and headed to the Gryffindor common room.
"I'm exhausted." Ron said.
"You just slept the whole night." Draco said.
"Yeah, well, I'm still tired." Ron said.
"Same here." Harry said.
"Goodnight, you two." Ron said, walking upstairs.
"Yeah, night." Harry said, following Ron.
"Goodnight." Draco and Hermione said. They both sat down by the fire.
"Thank you." Draco said.
"For what?" Hermione asked.
"For showing me who I truly am." Draco said. "I don't even know what I'd be like if it wasn't for you." Draco said. "I'd probably be in Slytherin right now if it wasn't for you and needing that walk."
"Well, you're welcome." Hermione said. "We'd best go to bed, right?"
"Yeah." Draco said. They walked upstairs together. "Okay, well.. goodnight?" he asked her. She smiled. They leaned in closer. They kissed. They broke the kiss. "Yeah, goodnight." Draco smiled.
"Goodnight." Hermione said with a smile.
They went their seperate ways, wondering what would happen tomorrow.

that is a weird story! malfoy being and gryffindor and hugging, and kissing hermione...
