If you really want hagrid to ride into battle on one of his pets..how about a nice heartwarming reunion with norbert?? a norwegian dragon in the battle would be sweet!

I wouldnt think it remained in the castle---Or else Dumbledore would've warned people about where it was. I think they moved it during the summer. Dumbledore and Hagrid knew the location of where it was goin, I'm assuming.
