just wondering if anybody else felt that dolores umbridge blasting her way into the room of requirements was ridiculous? it really angered me seeing the "laws" of the room getting reconfigured just to shorten the length of the movie...
i was thinking the same... how is malfloy gonna use it in the next movie if the door can just be busted through. actually, theyll probably cut that part out of the story to shorten time.
how Dolores blasted through the wall... and how Hermione knew about it... I didn't mind so much that Neville was the one that found it, especially since it was right after Crabbe and Goyle sideswiped him.

Exactly. I thought it was just a way too spend a little less money (not using Dobby), and left a lot of questions. Why hadn't Hermione brought it up before? Etc, etc, etc, etc. But the Filch thing was kind of cute. Especially the sandwhich.
You just had to know that they'd change the way the story would go, just to save time. It is annoying wwhen they do that. On way other hand the room is how I imagined it to be. _________________ Bubbles

Yeah, the cushions, the sneakoscopes... the books, even the whistle.
And if Hermione knew about it, how come she never said anything? SHe sounded like she was quoting from Hogwarts, A History. In the book she said she had never heard of such a room. I mean, she praised Neville for finding it, as if it was very difficult. But if they knew there was a room that could appear and had everything they needed in it, you bet they'd have found that thing first year. It would have been better if Neville found it, but Hermione didn't know about it. And they didn'tt mention how it wasn't on the Maurader's Map... which, by the way, also made no appearance in the movie. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate. ~ Bob Dylan
this movie wasnt supposed to please the avid book readers, i think this film was more directed at being a good movie representation of the book. _________________
which it obvisiouly was not since they left so much stuff out...
Agreed. The movies are more for people who don't want to go through the trouble of reading the books. They'll find them satisfactory. Although I liked all the HP movies until OOTP.

I disagree. I'm a big fan of the books, but I enjoy the movies too. Don't get your expectations up and you won't be all that disappointed. I talked about this in this thread though, so I won't repeat myself here.
Getting back on topic though I was a little confused how she managed to do it at all? The RoR is supposed to give you anything you need, right? Surely DA needed a room where they could not be found, and the RoR should give them this. I don't remember how they were found in the book, so if someone could refresh my memory that would be great.
Another general question I have is this: If DA needed a room where they couldn't be found and Umbridge needed a room where they could be found...well how does that work exactly? lol _________________

in the book they got found because dobby came into the room requirements and told harry that dolores found out about there meeting, (marriette SP, the snitch told umbridge) so harry told everybody to run back to there dormorties so while all the DA scattered from the 7th floor the inquistorial squad rounded them up....malfoy used a tripping charm to get harry..
and for umbridge to need a room to find harry she would need to know what harry was using the room for, so then she could gain access to the room...

I dont have a problem with them cutting bits out because I know they cant put it all in. But I do have a problem with them cuttin MAIN bits out and changing the story. That shouldnt be aloud in my opinion,I wonder what JKR thinks of the movie _________________ Forecast for tomorrow; a few sprinkles of genius with a chance of doom!
I'm not mad at all that Neville found it, without SPEW in the story (and I don't blame them for cutting that out) sticking Dobby in would have seemed highly random. I thought the Filch thing was cute too. But I don't know why they made Umbridge blast her way in, when she could have just walked in the door if Cho had told her. But...could she have? I wonder what would have happened if Umbridge, after being told where it was, could have gotten in. If they had just stayed in there...but then I guess she'd just wait until they left. They couldn't stay in there forever. _________________ They say home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. --Captain Hammer
I am glad everyone feels the same way as me. it was ridiculous...there was no way they should have been able to do that
they should have done it like the book, at least that part!! i kinda hated it that they didn't keep it to the book that much... espically that fighting part!! _________________
I AGREE!!
It would have been way better to see Doby come in and warn them and then the chase scene!
Like what the hell right!
