Realistically, I don't think I'm going to be able to do real work on it until next year [i.e. 2006]. I see next year as the time that I’m really going to write seven. But I've started and I am doing little bits and pieces here and there when I can. But you’ve seen how young Mackenzie still is, and you can bear actual witness to the fact that I do have a very small, real baby, so I'm going to try and give Mackenzie what I gave David, which is pretty much a year of uninterrupted 'me time,' and then I'll start writing seriously again.
Rowling has revealed that she has already written the last chapter of this book, although she admitted she would probably have to change some of it. It will reveal what happens to the surviving characters after they leave Hogwarts. [1]
The last word in the series is currently 'scar', though Rowling has admitted that it might change as she finishes the novel. [2]
Book 7 is almost like part two of the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and may thus provide a direct continuation of the plot of that book.
The Potters' profession is important to the plot, and there will be a huge revelation about Lily Potter.
It is very important to the plot that Harry has his mother's eyes, and that her wand was good for charms.
There will be no scene in which Harry or anyone else is playing Quidditch.
Rita Skeeter will appear again, as will Dolores Umbridge.
Dumbledore's brother Aberforth will probably appear (Rowling has confirmed that he's the barman of Hog's Head) and more about Dumbledore's background will be revealed.
We will find out exactly why Rowling had Sirius killed. The magical mirrors that Sirius gave Harry will appear again.
We will find out exactly what Dudley saw when he encountered the Dementors.
We will learn about the correspondence between Professor Dumbledore and Petunia Dursley before the death of Harry's parents.
More about Harry's scar will be revealed.
The fact that Voldemort now has Harry's blood in him will be significant.
The choice between what's right and what's easy will be a pillar of the plot in Harry's last 2 years at Hogwarts.

HARRY POTTER IS THE ULTIMATE BOOK/SERIES THERE WILL EVER BE!!! JUST IMAGINE, WE ARE THE GENERATION WHO GOT TO EXPERIENCE HARRY POTTER. Just think, the Potter series will become a classic. Maybe, they will even read it in school. There are some books that you are assigned to read now that I read when I was in school. That was a long time ago. Trust me.
I think this story will be interesting to kids even many generations from now.

It will mostly depend on the last book, if the series can end with a bang, with some awesome unexpected ending then just maybe people will one day consider it a classic. I however don’t think HP has what it takes to reach Classic status.

When the seventh book comes out I hope that it reveals all the secrets I have been waiting to answer. I have been browsing forums and they keep saying there is going to be a huge secret revealed about Lily Potter!

They’ll have to be revealed unless J.K wants the fans to make up their own theories on some stuff but that would be unlikely.

there is speculation *just speculation!* that book 7 will come out july 7, 2007. (7/07/07) 7 is the most magical number. it would be awesome if it came out then, and since all the books since they became popular were released in the summer, this is a possible date.

Yeah i totally agree Pheonix but it will still be sad to see them go.
On another note after book seven we can swamp JKR with questions and of course this time she will have to answer, no more " you will find out in the next book" and if she does not answer i will mail her until the day i die - i can be pig headed sometimes.

Yeah, people will get sick of it. It’ll also get too complicating, I’m sure there would be a lot of plot holes.

Well, she can keep some questions unanswered and have fans make their own theories which would lead to huge flame wars…
