Yesterday in Spanish class, the teacher asked who we thought would make a better president and why.... I noticed that some McCain supporters, when one kid brought up the absurd fact that Barrack Obama is or was a Muslim, started to say that Obama should'nt be president because he's muslim and things in that sort. This got me thinking, is this all that McCain's crowd can come up with, are people really so ignorant? I mean does a persons religion make them more capable of leading a country? Would it matter if he once was or still was Muslim? Would it matter if he secretly was once a muslim.... Did i miss something while reading the constitution? No where in the Constitution did it say that anyone believing in Islam couldn't be president. It just ticks me off when people start saying such ignorant things. I'm waiting for the day, a person believing in Islam, Judaism or a Atheist, runs and wins presidential office. Anyone else with me?

I think it is absolutely ignorant and absolutely prejudiced to think that someone is incapable of running a country based on their religion or lack thereof.

Says two things about people who say that. First, they're idiots because he's quite obviously not Muslim. Secondly, they're ignorant and discriminatory for using religion as a reason not to vote for someone.

I'm not religious in any respect other than worshipping the ground J.K. Rowling walks on. Ever since Obama declared his candidacy, I've been an avid "follower" of his.

Obama '08!

Teacher suspended for using N word to describe Obama
Staff Reporter | Posted October 3, 2008 1:58 PM

A Florida middle school teacher has been suspended without pay after he used the n word in class to describe Senator Barack Obama.

Marianna Middle School 7th grade teacher and coach Greg Howard was suspended without pay for 10 days starting Thursday for making racial slurs at presidential candidate Barack Obama, WJHG News Channel 7 reported.

"Our source told us Howard asked his students what 'change' stood for and proceeded to write out the acronym 'change'- come help a n(word) get elected," according to the report broadcast on Thursday. Howard actually used the word "EDITED" but the TV report changed the racial slur to "the n word" instead.

Jackson County's deputy school superintendent says he's received conflicting reports, but he can confirmed the n word was used," the report said. (The video of the news report is available on the RawStory web site.)

Howard was transferred to the Jackson County Adult Education Program but at least one parent interviewed for the story said that's not enough. Howard is required to attend diversity and sensitivity training as a part of the disciplinary action.

College Suspends Four Students Over Obama Display

October 01, 2008 03:05 PM ET | Alison Go

Four George Fox University students have admitted to hanging a cardboard cutout of Sen. Barack Obama from a tree last week, the Oregonian reports. The students face long-term suspension, and authorities have not disclosed any motivations for last week's incident. The display featured the Obama likeness with an "Act Six Reject" sign, referring to a Portland scholarship program targeted to low-income students.

The investigation had closed in on the students late last week, but officials at the small Oregon Christian college stopped short of expulsion. The students' names are not being released; they may be allowed to re-enter school after completing community service and multicultural education.

The FBI and Secret Service continue to investigate whether a hate crime or a threat has occurred.

I've said this several times already, with the lead Obama has had, if he loses the election come November, it will be because the American Public isn't ready to vote a black man president. I personally would love to see him in office, even though some of his various solutions to certian issues aren't the best.

Ginny, those articles just made me sick. How can people honestly do that and sleep at night?

I think this country is ready for anything but a Republican!

Ilya, Al Gore had a bigger lead at this stage, according to the polls, in the race back in 2000. He also won a majority of the votes.

Unfortunately US Presidential elections are not always reflective of what the people want, and neither are the polls.

Unfortunatly. You know how people say that Electorial College Needs Reform, although angred by the outcome of the 2000 election, other elections have been "wrongly decided" by the College. The kennedy election in 1960 where he was running agianst Nixon can be compared to the 2000 election. Where would the world be if John.F. kennedy didnt' win presidency?

Im happy that Obama has a Lead in Michigan and McCain has given up in the State. Thats another 17 solid votes for Obama. In the last few days Obama has been gaining momentum. North Carolina is now a battle ground state and Florida is leaning towards Obama

Good Poll tracker http://news.yahoo.com/election/2008/dashboard i check it everyday when i get up in the morning to see how much Obama is beating McCain by

I'll tell you right now, I wouldn't have wanted anyone but Kennedy in the White House during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
