The final chapter to be more specific the ending when they're kids are departing and Harry has no sense of pain anymore through his scar...

Well... Dobbys death was so bad. I remember reading him dying and putting the book open face down on my desk and crying. I felt so stupid lol. Then I started reading again... It was 3am... and then Snape died, I cried then, and kept reading....
Then it got to the Princes Tale. That was so sad, I put the book down again and cryed. My dad came in thinking I hurt myself or summin. Then he saw the book and said "You've been reading Harry blumin Potter again haven't you..." I nodded and he said tart and left... Oh how I my dad lool:P
But yeah, princes tale definatly... I love how it explains it all so well, and how the "Look... at... me..." meant he wanted to see lily before he died... and even if its make believe and fiction... it still makes you think that poor bastard... lol...

I think the saddest for me was probably 'The Seven Potters'. Hedwig dies, and you think that Hagrid is dead. I almost ripped the page out of the book I tried to turn it that fast lol.

The best is 'The Princes Tale'. I'm 21 years old, and I have been reading for almost all of that and I have never read a finer chapter in any book ever. Period.

And omg I thought Hagrid died too and was sad, but then Harry shouted Accio Hagrid and I couldnt help but laugh _________________
Cry, no, but feel like it, sure as crap... I grew to love Dobby very much, because he was just so innocent all the time and he always just wanted to protect Harry in any way possible, even if that meant he had to break the unbreakable law of the Elves, of serving their Masters - I mean, the part in GoF where Dobby sits on Harry's bed, sad that he scared him when he woke up was... well. It all just got out in the end of the Malfoy Manor and the start of the Wand Maker, and I was "I KEEL ROWLING" mood for killing the most innocent character in the book. Which really tore me down, meh. I nearly stopped liking Bellatrix on that point - and that says something!
Then, in a much smaller scale of sadness, Kreacher's story was depressing too. All this tears mixed with the... you know, well, hitting himself on the floor...

Oh, and the Prince's Tale also made me sad in the last sentence, where it says that "Snape could have just closed the door". Somewhy it was that moment where realisation hit me it and I was like "bad, bad, bad, bad Lily, you got the wrong guy!" _________________ Fact 1: Moody rocks your socks. And mine too.

The saddest part for me was when Harry walked into the forest and Sirius, Lupin, and his parents were there as ghosts. I don't know why, I guess the emotion made me cry!!! _________________ Jamie Appley
I cried soo much in 16th chapter when Harry and Hermoine visited James and Lily's grave and in The Forest Again when Harry found out that he had to die..
ahh..there are so may chapters in DH that are really sad. A lot of chapters have small sad moments as well. Dobby's death was incredibly sad, especially the way that JK wrote that part as well as Hedwig's death and you can totally see a different side to things from those two deaths. Percy coming back and then Fred dieing was very sad as well. Of course the battle and Harry sacrificing himself were sad too. _________________
these i think are the saddest parts of the book not the saddest chapter
1. when hedwig dies although its not a loss of any human its a loss of harry remaining innocence and also hedwig was the one thing that always kept harry attched to the magical world when living at the dursleys i think thats very sad.
2. when dobby dies, i thought this was the saddest part in the whole book, dobby was loyal and loved harry potter so much he died for him and he wasnt even harrys house elf, he was an innocent elf with so much love for the people who cared about him and he sacrificed himself for them/ "here lies dobby a free elf."
3. when snape died, i thought this was extremely moving, when you learn that after all this time he loved lily throughout it all he was looking out for harry and then when he learns dumbledores intentions were to have harry die in the end he seemed to care so much, when he was about to die he ordered harry to look at him so that the last thing he saw was lilys eyes, i thoguth this was extremely touching.
4. when fred died it was so sad because i knew its like georges other half and life for him is going to be so tough from now on without his twin (george named his son fred for a fact).
5. when mgonigal sees harry potter and she believes him to be dead and yells out a wail of NO, i thoguht that was very moving because it showed how much she cared about him, and when hagrid was carrying harry and crying i thought it was so sad, i couldnt not cry.
those i think were the most sad parts of the book haha sorry if i rambled on. _________________

for me, the battle of hogwarts seemed too rushed to evoke much emotion (at the time i read it).

I completely agree with everything you just said. Espcially Snape and Fred. But I cried so many times during the book that, faslkfjaslk, I get sad just thinking about it.
I think it was the chapter where Harry opened the Snitch and brought his parents, Sirius and Remus back with the stone. It made me so sad that they left Harry, in a way that they couldn't help. I had to put the book down so I wouldn't burst into tears.
And the other part that also made me really sad was when Snape died. He didn't deserve to die! Ugh! I could feel my eyes watering. _________________
