Surely Gryffindor issues can be dealt with in their forum?
Anyone got any suggestions/criticisms of Kesington's idea?
Thank you for pointing out how WE should run OUR forum SIR....
Anyways. The idea seems very well thought out.
I think Marxx was only trying to direct the topic to a less Gryffindor focused discussion and more to the discussion on if the idea was feasible.
He didn't mean any offense, Al.
From the moderators perspective, does it seem plausible? I have a few other house competitions I'd like to throw at you all as well. _________________ Here's How!|Graphics
It seems very well possible for this idea to become an active event on the forum. It may take time to gather ideas, suggestions, and to organize it. _________________
So America, with an open heart and an empty stomach, I say unto you in the words of my uncle: Allez Cuisine!
The Classroom is where the prefects of each house devise spell related questions to ask students, to help hone Harry Potter spell knowledge.
For example:
Quote:
Slytherin Head of House: What is the Potion used to alter one’s physical appearance into another’s?
Hufflepuff Student: Polyjuice Potion!
Slytherin Head of House:3 points to Hufflepuff house!
Each question can be worth from 3 to 10 house points, 3 for easy questions, 5-7 for medium level questions, and 10 for challenging questions.
Each House/Prefect is assigned a category to ask questions from, to avoid repeating and overlapping questions. Categories can be swapped with another prefect, if both prefects agree to trade.
Ravenclaw: Charms
Example: Q: What is the charm used to erect tents? A: Erecto
Slytherin: Potions
Example: Q: What is a potion used to take on another’s features? A: Polyjuice Potion.
Gryffindor: Defense against the Dark arts
Example: What spells can the Protego charm not protect you against? A: Unforgivable curses.
Hufflepuff: Herbology /Care of magical creatures
Example: Q: What is the animal that is half bird that one must bow to before approaching? A: Hippogriff
Each Prefect compiles a list of 15 questions (more or less depending on how long you want the game to last) for students to answer. Any student can answer any prefects question, regardless of their house.
The Heads of House will then alternate asking questions to the students. The order I used was: Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor.
Once a prefect has asked a question and their question has been answered the same prefect replies awarding points or telling students to try again. Students can post back to back if they wish (as it often happens with a fast paced game) but the first correct answer is the answer given points. One the prefect asking the question has awarded the proper amount of points, the next prefect will post their question.
Only the head of house who ASKS the question may award points for it.
Won't a prefect award more points to a student from their house who answers correctly?
Very possible! Luckily, There's a way to outsmart any cheating . Prefects are supposed to send their list of questions, along with answers and a point values to the administrator running the game prior to the start of the competition. This will avoid any preferencial treatment.
Points are tallied at the end of the game.
This is another competition That I tried out on another forum, and participants liked this one as well. What do you all think?
Both ideas seem great, Kessy! For the Quidditch thing, if it happens, could I be a referee point keeper or something?Cuz all spots on the Ravenclaw team are taken. But I'm not sure if all the team members are active, I'll have to check up on that, cuz I'm pretty sure we have a team.
EDIT: Okay, here is our team:
seeker:x_luna_lovegood_x
keeper:Interstellar
Chaser:Alastor
Chaser:MichaelCorner
Chaser:HermionexLuna
Beater:Messr. Padfoot
Beater:sheslikemagicx
Yeah, I don't think alot of these members are active. So we can't very well have this if some team members aren't active. Of course, I would be happy to fill in a spot. _________________ "I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death — if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach." thanks to evanesco for the sig, and to JKR for the quote!
