So whats up.

I'm new here, but I've been reading these forums for a while.

Anyways,
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter books, however I dont think Im the fastest reader. I put the books away for a while after I saw the 3rd movie and decided I had better things to do. Last year however I read the 4th and thought it was AMAZING. Not just because it may have been the best story, but because JKR did SUCH an amazing job as an author that she could have been talking about underwater basketweaving and I would have been entertained.

Right now, I'm on the 6th book and to tell you the truth, Im kinda pissed off that I have only 1.5 books left to read. But I really dont read them THAT fast, but I enjoy them nonetheless. So I'm curious, do you guys know any good ways to avoid hearing spoilers on book 7? I might be done with #6 by the 21st, but wont be able to read 7 as fast as Im sure some people are. Im going to stay off the internet, keep the news off and buy the book online so I dont have to risk what happened last time around...What precautions are you guys taking??

Going into the store with ear plugs, purchasing the book and not leaving the house, turning on telly or internet until I have finished the book.

No...people are going to open the book to the end and yell it out to everyone. Haven't you heard about that?

My advice is to not even visit the forums until your done with book seven. The moderators will be watching and deleting as much as we can...we will also be enforcing a strict spoiler button rule.

Take your time reading though. I won't be able to read the book fast as well with my limited free time. Smile

I would recommend you stay away from the Internet until you have the book completed. In addition to HP sites like this one, major media websites will be covering what happens in the book. To protect yourself, you need to keep yourself away from anything that could be a spoiler. It will be quite difficult, but that is the only way to try to truly protect yourself.

Here at our website, we are considering a brief shut down of the forums to prevent any spoilers for a day, or two, or three after the release to allow a fair portion of people to finish the book. If we don't shut down or after we open the forums back up, we will do everything we can to ensure that spoilers are clearly identified to help protect those that haven't finished the book. However, it will be impossible to guarantee a clear forum.

Good luck staying spoiler free, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your reading.

This will most likely be decided and announced late tomorrow (Sunday, 7/15).
