i definately think that this was the best harry potter movie ever created. of course, the books were amazing and i was hooked when i first read them, but once the movie came out, i became obsessed. i loved this movie. when i look at the more recent films, like the fourth and fifth, i actually feel sad. the first was incredible, and it can't compare to any of them. i could watch the first one all day and would be interested, whereas i could only watch the more recent films perhaps once or twice before i get sick of it. this movie is amazing. it had basically everything in the book, and it was so cute how everyone was so young and new to the acting industry. don't get me wrong, i love every single harry potter movie that has come out thus far, but none of them can compare with this one. this was the starting point of an amazing journey throughout the harry potter series. i wish that the movies can be more like this again. i know that won't happen because this movie is incredibly hard to beat. thanks to everyone who made this movie happen. thanks to JK rowling, chris colombus, the actors, the producers and everyone else who was involved in it, because this movie has made a huge impact on my life, and it's my favorite movie i've ever seen, and i have a feeling it always will be.

who else agrees with me?
come on, there's got to be some people out there!

Actually, IMO, this movie sucks compared to PoA and onward. Sorry, but it got a little boring at times.

I completely agree with you, iloveDan38!!! I felt exactly the same way especially when I watched the fifth movie. It was awful compared to the first one. Great scenes, great effects, great cast, great music, great plot...... Everything about the first movie is just GREAT! I love to see the trio in their young ages, so innocent-looking, not contaminated by mundane concerns. Later on, the once-wonderful faces just become more stilted, and more artful and artificial-looking, I can't find a better word about it. All the Quidditch thing looks so real and exciting. And of course, the music written by John Williams is just another triumph. I wonder why they changed the music in later films. Why not use the first one all along? That will be more economical. Wink

yeah because its the shortest book so it can keep to the script the most. unlike goblet of fire, which does not stick to plot as much because it has 3x more pages

I don't agree. It wasn't real good. I prefer Order of the Phoenix for all the great fighting scenes.

I loved the first film because of the similarities that are shown between the wizarding
and the muggle world. For example the advertisements for goods in Diagon Alley which
we wouldn't have even concieved with the old witch and wizard stories.

Also the huge differences which are just everyday life for wizards.

This film is good for the reason that it stayed true to the book but for entertainment value the last three are better

I thought it was one of the best out of the series. It was the first so it set the bar for the rest to follow.

I agree that the first film was the best one. All the characters were so new, and innocent. It was nice to see them all without any huge problem on their hands. I think the first movie has shown more of the magical world than the other ones. I also liked Harry's awe of the magical world.

For HP book fans, its gotta be the first movie. It stuck with the script and boy did the trio deliver. They looked like the characters in the book and it was absolutely amazing.

However, entertainment wise and for those HP movie fans who don't even read the book, it could well be one of the most boring-est. OOTP and PoA would be the most entertaining.
