|
|
I've just been wondering if Snape was compelled to kill Dumbledore by the Unbreakable Vow he made to Narcissa.
Because the last line of the vow reads "And, should it prove necessary...if it seems Draco will fail....will you carry out the deed that the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform?"
I think Snape may not have had as much choice in killing Dumbledore as people think, not only was he compelled by the above vow, but earlier in the same vow, he swore to protect Draco from harm. If Malfoy had failed to kill Dumbledore, his life would have been forfeit to Voldemort.
So I think Snape may have had no choice...what do you think?.... _________________ Some say the glass is half empty, some say the glass is half full, I just want to know whose been drinking my beer! |

| While Snape may not have had a choice because of the vow, he did have a choice to make the vow in the first place... You never know though |

| could this be the reason dumbledore and snape were suppose to be argueing maybe snape is loyal and for some reason dumbledore wanted him to carry out these plans. |

In HBP, Dumbledore lets it be known that he holds more importance to youth than old age (i.e. Harry is more important than himself). Maybe he holds that true for all. Snape is younger, therefore, able to be more productive in the long run. I hold onto the hope that Snape and Dumbledore had this planned (his death... if need be) so that Snape could still help out the Order. Maybe far fetched, but...
Another, but unlikely hope... Dumbledore isn't dead, just made to look that way to get Voldemort to come out in the open (all planned with Snape's help). |

hengest... I forgot! Maybe that IS why Snape and Dumbledore were arguing. Dumbledore told him to kill him if need be and Snape didn't want to.
I like that much better. |

Dumbledore trusted Snape. why? Becuase i think the answer to that question can answer a lot of other mysteries too. Like why dumbledore pleaded with snape before he was killed. was he pleading for life or death? _________________ If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you. |

| i think the reason behind them arguing is that dumbledore knew about the vow snape took with nacrissa and he wanted him to follow through with it because he thought that malfoy might have some part to play later? Just as tolkien did with gollum in Lotr. |

I guess I semi-agree with this. I still think there is more about Snape we don't know about... _________________

| Snape is a double agent! Working for the order of the pheonix and for Valdie....... If snape was drawn into the vow..... if he had said no, then Narcissa's sister would never belive Snape to be loyal..... but by saiing yes, he showed her that he was willing to die for Lord Valdie giving him more credability..... DD new that Malfoy was triing to kill him and im sure he knew that he could not fulfill that task..... therefore he had to die to save Snapes life....But what about Malfoy???? is Malfoy going to die because he did not kill DD..... He did not fulfill his task Snape did it for him! |

snape has always confused me from the very first book. there was always somethink sinister about him.
but now i do believe him to be genuin. I believe he is truly the only person who can make harry potter reach his true potential. Harry potter has to be fueled with two emotions one of love and the other hate.
the saying love conquors all means a great deal in the books as so many sacrifised themselves for harry through out his life, however he will need to be fueled with hate to due some of the darker magic that will be needed for anyone who steps in his way.
If snape never worked emotionaly with HP, he would never be as good as he is now. as we all are aware from the very first book your powers are connected to your emotions.
Snape even left him by basically telling him to work on his non verbal spells other wise he will not succeed. he is always giving him lessons.
dd let snape teach DATDA in book6 because he new the only person who would be able to prepare HP for his final battle is snape. |

Snape could have chosen not to kill Dumbledore, but as Ron told Harry, breaking an Unbreakable Vow results in death. So his choice would have been his life, or Dumbledore's. _________________ "For too long we have been taught to praise the wrong heroes, thieves planting flags and murderers carrying crosses. | Snape cared about his life more than Dumbledore and if he didn't kill Dumbledore then the Death Eaters would have surely killed him or the making of the Unbreakable Vow could have. Now he's got the support from Voldemort as well. |

Im gonna have to totally disagree. Snape was following DD order's. He is loyal to the the order and I think his death was a whole charade. We will find out in book 7. Also I think it draws pararells to book 1 when we all thought Quirell was good and he wasnt( Something tells me that Slug will be the one to be revealed as the evil one and Snape has the good one) Hopefully Snape wont die sacrificing his life for Harry:(
Ive come to believe that Snape,Malfoy and Pettigrew will all betray Voldie. _________________

Ok, lets go back to the tower when Harry and DD reached the top of the tower. DD told Harry to go get Snape! At that point Draco busted through the door. DD petrified Harry and then lost his wand..... Why did he stop Harry from Kicking Draco off the wall??? Why did DD not summon his wand back? I am sure DD knew that Draco was supposed to KILL him and that he took a gamble that he would not be able to in the end. I also think that DD did not see Draco bringing the Deatheaters into Hogwarts and that day to be spacific..... I believe that DD and Snape had faught over the fact to kill him or not! I just think that DD love for Harry is why he did not alow him to beat up Draco..... hence the other deatheaters would kill Harry... So the appearance of the deatheaters through a wrench in DD plan.... Snape's fear of his vow made him run to Dracos side and there he realized that he had to do what he never wanted to do, and that was to kill DD.. Snape is evil in the fact that he lives in hate but he has a fear of killing someone.....torture is deffinetly ok though!!! I think Snape believed that he could find a way to save Draco without killing DD and that is why he had a look of great forbodding on his face!
No snape did not have a choice and I think it was Draco's fault..... He just did not know! |

There is a powerful magical bond when one wizard saves another wizard's life. I think Snape is actually good. He has to protect Harry because of the bond that formed when James Potter saved Snape's life. (Do you remember?) Through Snape's own actions, he inadverently caused the death of James, the wizard who saved his life. Now, he has to repay the magical void by protecting Harry. I think DD and Snape may have had several plans depending how it played out. One being the faked death of DD to save Draco. Did Snape have a choice? NO. _________________ You're just jealous cause the voices only talk to me! |
