I thought it was the best movie yet. The theater was packed. A lot of people had Gryffindor scarves, and some people were dressed up as the characters; there was a guy dressed up as Luna lol, and someone was dressed as Hermione. Everyone cheered or clapped at some parts in the movie. There was a guy that had a huge sign that said "Sirius Dies" and he was holding it up and showing it to everyone that walked in lol Very Happy. The lines were really long.

Spoiler:

I wish there'd been more scenes with Lupin. I think they should have shown him coming to get Harry, too.

Harry and Sirius's close relationship was shown, which was great.

I liked Dudley and his friends in the beginning. They never showed Mundungus, and Mrs. Figg was very calm about the dementor attack.

12 Grimmauld Place and Kreacher were both really good. Kreacher was better than Dobby. They never showed anything about Sirius's mom, or how Sirius was bitter because of living there.

Fred and George were funny, especially when they apparate downstairs and scare Mrs. Weasley.

The Ministry of Magic looked cool. The hearing scene was very good.

I didn't think Michael Gambon was good at playing Dumbledore, but he was good during the fight scene with him and Voldemort.

Imelda Staunton as Umbridge was perfect. Her giggle, girly voice, and "hem, hem" were great.

The part when Fred and George leave was great and funny, and the fireworks were amazing.

They didn't have any Quidditch matches. It never showed Ron playing, or the "Weasley is Our King" song.

I liked the D.A. scenes. I didn't like that Cho was the one who told (it didn't make sense), not Marietta, so they never showed her with "SNEAK" across her face.

They didn't have anything about Firenze teaching Divination when Trelawny was sacked.

The Grawp scene was funny, but short.

Harry and Cho's kiss was sweet. I liked the line about nargles in the mistletoe. The scene after it with Harry, Ron, and Hermione was hilarious.

Luna was perfect. She was strange but sweet, like in the book.

They never showed Umbridge questioning Harry about Sirius.

I think Harry's detention scene was short, but Dan's acting and his reaction was great in that part.

There were no St. Mungo's scenes after Mr. Weasley was attacked.

A lot of events happened out of order, like Snape starting Occlumency lessons with Harry right after he's had the vision of Mr. Weasley being attacked. I think they should have had Snape come to 12 Grimmauld Place during the holidays, like in the book and explaining to Harry about the Occlumency lessons; the part in the book with Sirius and Snape arguing and Sirius defending Harry would have been interesting to see.

The "Snape's Worst Memory" scene was too short. It didn't show Lily, Sirius, Lupin, or Pettigrew. It also didn't show what Harry thought of James after seeing that.

They never showed Harry talking to Sirius and Lupin about his father, or Lupin and Sirius's reactions when they found out Snape had stopped giving Harry Occlumency lessons.

The Ministry of Magic battle was good, but they didn't show any of the other rooms in the Department of Mysteries.

Bellatrix and Lucius's performances were great, but in general I didn't like the Death Eaters; they were a lot different from the books.

I think the scene where Sirius dies should have been shown in Harry's point of view.

The possession scene was well-done and really good. I liked when Harry realizes that love is what sets him apart from Voldemort. I liked Harry's "I feel sorry for you" line. Michael Gambon's performance in this scene wasn't good. I didn't like that when Voldemort stopped possessing Harry and reappeared, Dumbledore didn't do or say anything.

The aftermath was way too short. There was no scene with Harry destroying Dumbledore's things and it didn't show hid grief over Sirius's death. Dumbledore didn't explain nearly as much as he did in the book.

Overall it was very good, and I loved it! I can't wait to see it again.

The transitions weren't smooth. The movie had no focus--trying to cram a lot of things in a short time. Non-readers would have been confused as to what was happening.

Rupert Grint is so hot! Damn him and his broad chest and shoulders!
Radcliffe's acting did not progress. His only good moment was when Voldemort possessed him, and most of that moment was good because of a well-done make-up.
Emma Watson should have speech lessons. She talks too fast.

I also hated the cinematography. All that sweeping camera angles to appreciate the vastness of Hogwarts just made me dizzy.

I went to the midnight showing. Let me just say I have never seen any of the potter films in theaters. But man did people clap and cheer in certain scene. I had never seen that. It was awesomescenes lol. But, I honestly did love it. I love the flying scenes. It was just amazing; like we were with them. As for the fighting scenes...amazing. I know if I go see it again I will see something I did not notice before.

I think anyone who has paid close attention to the fifth book is probably disappointed in this movie at least a little bit. The fifth book is my absolute favorite book of all of them, and found myself laughing alongside my friends at how ridiculously wrong they got some parts. Don't get me wrong, it was a very cool movie with good acting and I liked Dumbledore's fight with Voldemort at the end, but it was so very inaccurate. I think you'll find that even the aforementioned fight scene cut out plently of details that stuck out in my mind. I understand that they didn't want to make it too long, and therefore cut out quite a few scenes, but unfortunately the scenes they did put in gave an inaccurate sense of what is really going on in the books and how much treachery was really involved. When I say that, I speak, of course, about Kreacher's role and the complete alteration of how Dumbledore's Army was discovered by Professor Umbridge. I'm sure other things fit that description, but those two things immediately come to mind. Anyway, I found that the movie alone was pretty good, but very inaccurate and misleading.

You're right, it was very inaccurate. But considering how much they had to fit into it, they did a pretty good job. I tried to look at it from a different perspective, as if I hadn't read the book. It's always hard to read a book and then watch the movie, because the movies always stray. The best book turned into a movie that I've seen was Chronicles of Narnia.

Spoiler:

Was Sirius actually hit with the AK curse or did he dodge it and step into the veil and get sucked in? Because if he got hit with it, it didn't kill him instantly like we have always seen in the movies and read in the books! This is the part I did not like, it bothers me. Why not just get stupified into the veil? He was dead before he went into the veil if the curse hit him, I don't get it...

Spoiler:

It was a little longer than that but yes, it could have been a bit longer. I would have liked to have seen Fawkes.

My brother wasn't, he understood everything.

I loved it.

Spoiler:

I think alot of you are just being picky. I knew ages ago how much wasn't going to be in this film and to be honest I was glad Quidditch wasn't in it, it bores me.
I would have loved if it was a 3 hr movie, but then everyone would be complaining about that. But at least alot more would have fit in it.
The end scene was great, I didn't think it was too short at all, I have never had a problem with Michael's acting as Dumblore his the better one as far as I'm concered.
Like I said before the only real problem I had was no mention of Ron and Hermione being prefects.
I don't have a problem with Dobby not being it in it, I thought Kreacher had pretty good screen time.
I think if Snape's pensive had been in there it would have taken up more time, but I do agree we should have got a better look at the other Maudurer's. But they were going with the whole memories thing, so I can understand why it looked like it did.
I loved the humor in it, and I can't wait to see it again.
All in all for the length of the book they did a really job of putting it into a 2 hr movie.

This may have been explained in the books but I cant remember cause it has been a long time since I read OOTP but why is there a veil in the ministry anyway I mean why would you need somthing that has no use except harm in sirius's case. Confused

i was disappointed with the fact that the director not only cut things from the book but switched the story around. there was so much missing, i wouldnt have minded an extra hour for a more accurate story. i say worst director out of the series and i cant see why warner brothers signed him on for the next movie. they should bring back Alfonso Cuarón.[/spoiler]

Spoiler:

i liked the part when dumbledore vanished with fawkes after facing dolores, percy, and fudge. really cool bit.

i like percy, dunno why... heheheh...

yeah big mistake in the part when sirius was hit. that was a crucial part already, and they had to make a mistake. wow!

but in fairness.. i liked that part when harry was screaming coz sirius died and lupin was holding him back. just like how i thought it should be. no crying sounds... just sad music.

the fighting scene was too short. too too short.

the movie wasn't all that bad even though they left out some bits and pieces. However, i have THREE major concerns about the movie..
1. the first is that Dolores Umbridge BLASTED her way into the room of requirements...that was absolutely ridiculous
2. what was up with the death eaters and members of the order flying around with that black and white smokish nonsense..i had no idea of what that was...best guess is its suppose to be them apparating, but that is not even close to how apparating is described in the books.
3. last major concern is the fight with dumbledore and voldemort...i think they clompletley butchered this scene. the fight was not nearly long enough, and what i hated about it the most was the fact that they portrayed dumbledore as a weak old man. I hated how dumbledore got knocked down and how he had that look of fear while fighting voldemort.. i do however understand that after voldemort dissapeared during the fight in the book it said "For the first time, Dumbledore sounded frightened." But that was only because he didn't know where voldemort went...

I think they made Cho be the one who told Umbridge about the DA in order to cut out the tea shop scene. That way, for the movies, it gives Harry an alternative reason to split with her.

I liked the movie for what it was. Book aside, the movie was really good. However, if comparing it to the book, it fails in comparison; the book just has so much more to offer.
