It's supposed to be all the negative things people have described it as, it's not supposed to be easy to follow or easily explained, you're supposed to question reality and take new meanings, both literal and figurative, from each viewing. It's not a matter of twists and turns you'll understand if explained simplistically, it has depth beyond plot. _________________
I really like Donnie Darko! JG is fabu in this one!
I watched the Director's Cut first, and I really prefer that version. Being an old school (Michael Hutchence-era) INXS fan, I really loved how 'Never Tear Us Apart' began this version. And although the theatrical version's ending was much more "user friendly", I really preferred seeing the pages to the 'Philosophy of Time Travel' book in the Director's Cut to help foreshadow events.
Now I'm thinking of watching HP1 and DD on Halloween!

I'm currently doing a 10-16 page paper on this movie for psychology. I really enjoyed it. Thank goodness, because I am going to have to watch it at least five times before the semester is over. _________________

i love this movie! a lot of people don't like it because they don't get it, but i don't think you need to understand everything about a movie to enjoy it. _________________ T~O
TWilight fans! Come here!
I know this is an old topic, but I was not gonna start a new one...
Donnie Darko is one of the best movies ever made, I love it.
It has a great plot, a great ending, and above all else amazing acting. I hated Jake Gyllanhaal before I watched this movie (didn't like him in most of the movies I had seen in him), but he did an amazing acting performance that has earnt him a place in my book of favorite actors.
Spoiler:
The ending was sad, but brilliant. How he sacrifices himself, so that the others don't die/get killed by him.
I got it two days ago, and have watched it 4 times since, it never gets old.
I love this quote:
Spoiler:
Do you want your sister to lose weight? Tell her to get off the couch, stop eating twinkies and maybe go out for field hockey. You know what? No one ever knows what they want to be when they grow up. You know it takes a little, little while to find that out, right, Jim? And you... yeah, you. Sick of some jerk shoving your head down the toilet? Well, you know what? Maybe... you should lift some weights, or uh, take a karate lesson and the next time he's tries to do it, you kick him in the balls.
