the horcrux part of Harryw as destroyed by the spell. the crying baby was actually Voldie's soul or what was left of it. Rememebr when Harry regains consciousness after the Limbo, he sees Death Eaters trying to wake Voldermort who also had fainted like Harry. Both Harry and Voldermort came back from aferlife

how does the horocruxes work... are they disposable?

for example uncle mortie "dies" does a folower have to locate a horocrux and bring him back to life

or is it instantaneous..

and if so does he have to start over inside that follower like he was attached to quirrells head

did that make sense?

the horcruxes act as anchors. so that when you should die, only your body perishes. but your soul...the part that was in your body. still lingers on. the bitch is getting a body lol. but all your horcruxes are still there and working.

Remember how Hermione says the part of the soul stored in the Horcrux becomes dependent on the Horcrux's form, and is permanantly destroyed with the Horcrux? I sort of doubt that was the part of Voldemort's soul trapped in Harry - it was probably destroyed similarly.

DH pg.708 about half way down the page.
"I let him kill me," said Harry. "Didn't I?"
"You did," said Dumbledore, noddng. "Go on!"
So the Part of his soul that was in me..."
Dumbledore nodded still more entusiastically, urging Harry onward, a broad smile of encouragement on his face.
"... has it gone?
"Oh yes!" said Dumbledore. "Yes, he destroyed it. Your soul is whole, and completely your own, Harry."
"But then..."
Harry glanced over his shoulder to where the small, maimed creature trembled unter the chair.
"What is that, Professor?"
"Something that is beyond either of our help," said Dumbledore.

This makes it clear that it is not the part of Voldemorts soul that was inside Harry, though it still doesn't clear up what it actually is. I think that when Voldemort collapsed with Harry, he went to the same place as Harry did, but in a different sort of way. They probably saw a physical form of what Voldemort was like inside. Sort of a shadow, so to speak, of what he has become.

JK did an interview answering this but I'm to lazy to look for it. That snake baby was indeed the "horcrux Harry" I think what happened was kind of a combination of a limbo and inside Harry's mind. I think DD was able to go there because he knew it would happen which explain why only he Harry and Voldy where there. If anybody's wondering what part of Voldy's soul that was, DD once said "a soul as evil as Voldemort's can't touch Harry's" or something like that. That must mean that piece of soul was the part of Tom that hadn't killed yet (the little 11 year old boy we see in HBP.) So yeah hope I helped

I think that its the part of Vold that he put in Harry, not knowing it. I think that DD knew all along that it was Harry that was to be the one to stop Vold & possess the hallows because he never wanted power just to be the one to stop the one who wantd to control everyone.

I think I read somewhere that it was the 7th part of Voldemorts soul which was in Harry before. Since this King's Cross was something like heaven/ afterlife and Harry choose to go back to the forest but left the baby in the station, the 7th Horcrux remained dead and Harry was free of him... Voldemort didn't kill his 7th Hocrux, he just separated Harry's soul and his part of soul. The actual killing did Harry by not bringing the baby back with him.
Yeah, a little bit strange that theory, but it all fits.

Like Jo said, the snake baby was the "horcrux Harry" which means King's Cross was something like a limbo (though I'm quite sure this has been not only discussed but confirmed), so the snake baby stayed in King's Cross until forever and Harry was free to live life on his own.

What I know:

Spoiler:

Voldemort's soul was the little scaly thing in King's Cross.
Harry was whole because he never killed anyone before.
Voldemort didn't die for the same reason he didn't die when he tried to attack Harry as a baby - because 2 parts of his soul was still alive: The one in Harry and Nagini.
When Voldemort attacked Harry in the Forest, because he had Harry's blood and because Harry bravely walked to his doom, he couldn't damage him at all, instead, he destroyed the part of his own soul in Harry.
Then, in King's Cross, I'm guessing Voldemort felt excruciating pain, because his primary appearance was the soul he tore up so many times.

I might remember something more, so I'll just edit my post if I do.

I agree with about 99% of what you said except why Voldemort didn't die. If that curse was supposed to kill him, he would've lost his body again and became the spirit haunty thingy he was until the end of GoF. I think their blood knocked him out when Harry was hit with the curse.

Yeah, well, I was never 320% sure about the end of DH...

All the Horcruxes had been destroyed by the time the final duel occurred. Voldemort's soul was completely demolished when his spell backfired; therefore, he died and most likely to never return as a different form of whatever.

This is an extract from a JKR Deathly Hallow chapter, ending, summary thing!

Quote:

In which Harry awakens in what seems to him to be King's Cross station, where he encounters a fragment of Voldemort's soul, now powerless, and Albus Dumbledore, who explains what has just happened. Harry has the choice between going on or going back, and chooses to go back.

When I was actually reading that particular passage, I was in the firm belief that it was Voldemort in the 'child like' form that he occupied in at the end of GoF.

It has to be Voldy in some way, because Dumbledore said that Voldemort is more afraid of coming back to that place.
