I wrote this poem early yesterday AM. I hope you can identify with it as we all bite our nails over book 7. If you like it, spread the word and hopefully Jo can read it before the book comes out:) Feel free to email me at joshswenson@msn.com

7/7/7
Urgent owl post to J.K. Rowling

On this, the seventh, as we wait
Feelings hard to articulate
Two weeks more – it doesn’t matter
Harry’s story is what we’re after.

Your Boy who Lived charmed our hearts.
He swished and flicked us from the start.
Barely has he touched our shelves,
For in him we have seen ourselves.

We took the train from nine and three quarters.
We’ve been avid Gryffindor supporters.
And in the mirror of Erised
We faced our deepest dreams and dreads.

To us the Sorting Hat confided
Where our hearts have long resided.
We’ve seen our rights and felt our wrongs
Through Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.

Growing up with Harry, we can relate
From loneliness to friends then awkward dates.
For some of us, from broken families
What we needed most was the Weasleys.

We’ve aged together, our breath is bated
Our life, like Harry’s, complicated.
We struggle and hide but here’s the truth;
He’s been our time turner to keep our youth.

We’ve escaped our Voldemorts and Privet Drives
After six books we’re still alive.
But as we approach the final stop
We pause a moment before the drop…

We’re gathering our hopes and steeling our nerves
To find out if Voldemort gets what he deserves.
“Neither can live while the other survives”
Please let Harry live as the seventh month dies!

Albus we lost, and Sirius
Surely it was real to us.
The phoenix song reverberates
Two more deaths, such awful weights.

At 12:01 on the 21st
We’ll hope for the best being prepared for the worst.
With books in our hands we’ll head to our beds
But not to sleep until they’ve been read.

Jo, please remember, you tread hallowed ground
Our childhood laid bare, our heart strings unwound.
We’re scared silly, we admit it, but you have our trust.
Go now, be brave, and do what you must.

One last request, we ask: please be our Patronus
And most of all thanks for the magic you’ve shown us.
