I'm just wondering, is Hermione a common name?
I don't think I had heard it before HP. But then again I don't live in an English speaking country.

It's from Greek mythology derived from Hermes.

In case you're wondering....
In "The Winter's Tale" the character of Hermione gets turned to stone... similar to the Hermione in HP who gets petrified.

I also heard people didn't know how to pronounce it? Razz
People said Hermy-one and Hermy-own!

Last year I met this little girl here in Norway whose name was Hermine. Hermione is called Hermine in Norwegian. I'm guessing she was named after HP Hermione, cause I have never ever heard anyone have that name in Norway before:P Maybe her parents were HP fans!

That was quite Interesting reading where Hermione was derived from. And Shakespear, I was studying him in school before the holidays

I don't know anyone called Ron either!

Before I even read Harry Potter books or watched Harry Potter movies, I never heard that name: Hermione. That's a very pretty name! I really love that name and I have hoped I was named like that, but it's an english name. I totally love that name. People are right, Hermione is not a common name. I bet there is 1% people are named like that. Hermione Granger
